My Tournament Director Application
What days and times are you available to host tournaments? (i.e. MWF 6-10 PM Eastern Time)
Sat. - Sun. evenings 7PM and later (for now, that may change)
Do you have any prior experience running tournaments? Briefly explain:
I don't run, if you ever see me running you should probably run too because a bear or something is likely chasing me.
What other online commitments do you have? (i.e. TD, HTD, or Admin on another League)
I have a fear of commitments because I met my ex-wife on here years ago and she was crazy. We split up and she died a few years ago, but I still look over my shoulder in case her ghost comes back for revenge. Other than that, this is the only league I'm in.
In your opinion, what are the three most important qualities of a successful Tournament Director?
1. Directing tournaments
2. Clicking a bunch of buttons
3. Showing up and entertaining the masses
How would your closest friends describe your personality?
Goofy, sometimes funny, ummm I guess type too much when playing Pogo (I'd say talk too much but I usually don't actually talk when I'm typing on here; I live alone and I don't want the neighbors wondering why I argue with myself)
What do YOU feel is your strongest personality trait?
sense of humor
What do you feel is a personality weakness you need to work on?
I have a lot that I NEED to work on, but I probably won't. Maybe just not take any criticism personally.
What is the best way to resolve conflict between players?
The best way might not be the right or correct way. The best way is to lock them in a room, hide the key, and let them fight to the death. The player still alive (or at least still standing) when you open the door wins. Otherwise, screenshots can be you best friends.
If a player were to say to you, "This League sucks! You are a horrible TD and have no idea what you are doing!" how would you respond to that player?
Kill them with kindness and tell them thank you. That will confuse them, and that's when you make your move!
If a player were to say to you, "I won my tournament match but my opponent keeps saying they won!" how would you proceed?
Ask one of my screenshots which player actually won and wait for it to verbally respond. Hold the tournament up until it answers. When that doesn't work, flip a coin, and when they get mad, tell them to pick a number 1-10 and whoever guesses closest wins, but then actually make the number a letter. That'll throw them off so bad that they'll never complain again.
If a player with whom you have had a conflict joins one of your tournaments, what would you do?
Let them play. The more upset they get, the happier I'll be.
Why do you want to host with A League OF THEIR OWN?
I guess I figured I could help and play at the same time, plus the idea of having players fight to the death is intriguing.
We would like to know what other leagues you have hosted/admin or Co-Ha for?
This could take a while, mainly because some of the leagues that have closed over the years I don't remember the names of them, lol. So, once upon a time, in a pogo league far, far away....
[I redacted the actual answer here because I have a couple of crazy stalkers on here, and I don't want them knowing my location, lol]
