UIC RULES
Make sure that you read and understand these rules – ignorance is no excuse!
Categories of rules and expected penalties are listed at the bottom of this page – READ THEM
!
These rules are additional to, and to be read in conjunction with, the rules as laid down by the Administrators of the Case’s ladder system.
The Administrators of the UIC reserve the right to modify these rules from time to time as new situations arise.
Every effort will be made to inform all UIC members of any and all such rule changes.
If you cannot, or if you refuse to, abide by these rules then the UIC is NOT the place for you and it is strongly suggested that you move on.
VERY IMPORTANT
IT IS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE ARE SOME MEMBERS WHO MAY HAVE BEEN MEMBERS OF ANOTHER LEAGUE THAT IS SIGNED UP IN UIC AND IT IS ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE MAY BE SOME BAD BLOOD BETWEEN CERTAIN MEMBERS, THEREFORE IF ANY PLAYERS ARE SUSPECTED OF ANY ACTIONS THAT HAVE BOOTED PLAYERS FROM ANY GAME, THEN YOUR TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
AND
IF ANY PLAYERS ARE SUSPECTED OF LOCKING DOWN OR CONTINUOUSLY SPAMMING IN ANOTHER LEAGUE'S ROOM THEN YOUR TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
UIC GENERAL RULES
1. Any screen name used must match your Yahoo name and your current league name exactly. (with the following exceptions):
Where Cases doesn't accept the 'dot' IDs you must sign in with an underscore and then change it to the dot via the user editor link on the main page - failure to do so will result in you playing under an incorrect ID and thereby culminating in a disqualification.
If you are unable to do this yourself then ask one of the leadership team to do it for you but it is your responsibility to check that it has been done.
Where Cases doesn't accept overly long names use a shortened version of it to sign up and an admin will change it for you.
Any @sbc.global.net names are permitted to use the first part of the name if they are too long. i.e lst.judge@sbc.global.net would be permitted to use lst.judge.
If you change your league name, please let a UIC Admin know so that changes can be made to UIC pages (updating new name in player stats, team lists, credit games etc..).
Searching and matching new names is a very time consuming exercise that Admin's have to undertake every week and one that we would rather do without, so please be considerate.
2. Any screen name used must have at least 20 games played in your home league with that name and must be active within the week prior to any match. Any member found to be manipulating their home league statistics in this instance will be penalized accordingly!
3. GHOST NAMES
and deflated names will NOT BE PERMITTED in the UIC.
4. Boosted names are OK - It is of no consequence to players when, if you win, you don’t win many points and if you lose, you lose a lot.
5. Should a league be a NO SHOW 3 times in any Season (without
a valid and reasonable excuse) then it may result in that league being
removed from UIC.
6. You may change leagues
with a verified release up to the halfway point in any season.
Players are limited to a maximum of 2
league changes in any 1 season.
Any league changes may only be approved by the HA or the CO-HA of UIC.
After the halfway point you may NOT change leagues.
Admin's may approve changes under exceptional circumstances if all parties agree to the change after the halfway point but not, REPEAT not after week 17 or 5 weeks left to play in any season - whichever is the latest, even if you have a verified release.
Should you change leagues without a clearance then you will be subject to a penalty of 6 UIC matches ie 6 weeks. So the advice is - DON'T EVEN TRY IT.
7. Each Team Captain is responsible to check if members are qualified to play.
It is your responsibility to check BOTH your own players and your opposition players for eligibility - if your player is ineligible, either by way of not being active in the week prior to any match, by using an incorrect league name, by insufficient games on your home league or by having insufficient games in your home league because of stats being reset, if that player actually plays and wins then he/she will be DQ'd and the game will be overturned and recorded as a win for the opposition.
Similarly should your ineligible player lose then your team will also be deducted a win.
Other than there being no record entered for an ineligible player other individual records will not be affected.
If you don't check and act upon these things and there is a problem discovered AFTER the game or match then it will be bad luck - the result will stand as is.
(for instance if Team A uses a player that is not eligible and Team B Captain hasn't checked the players of Team A and the Team A player wins their game then there is no comeback from the Team B Captain.)
If it is found during, or after, a match that you used a player that has not been signed up in UIC then your team will forfeit the entire match and have a 0 - 5 result recorded!
8. No Forced Forfeits, "FF", under any circumstances. This includes, quitting and forfeiting on your opponent or yourself before a game has ended.
9. Sportsmanship is an expected requirement with UIC. Remember to use common sense.
10. Disrespect of staff and
fellow members is not accepted at any time in either the lobby, the game
tables, nor yim's.
11. Deliberately causing trouble in the lobby, the game tables, or yim's will not be tolerated and will be subject to a 6 week boxing.
12. Any dispute or other issue that you may have against another member, or staff member, must be taken to a private table and NEVER aired in the lobby.
13. Admin's will report all player losses – Losses will be
taken from the usual captain’s report in the forum - it is NOT necessary
for any player to report their losses.
14. Any form of cheating is unacceptable. This includes, the proven use of aiming assistance programs, leaving on the 8 ball, bringing up the cancel box and FF if your opponent gets booted. Other forms of cheating will be looked at on an individual basis.
15. You are only allowed ONE account with the UIC. If more then one account is detected it may result in ALL accounts being deleted and that includes all match histories. Additionally your Team may possibly forfeit all points gained up to an including the time of the offence.
16. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid Email address; if not then you wont receive any newsletter information we send out and that could possibly work against you. If one is found to be invalid it may result in your name being removed from UIC. Updating this can be done under User Editor on the main page.
17. No member is to ever bring the name of the UIC into disrepute; either in the lobby of any room by spamming or in any other way.
18. Admins are the sole arbiters in any ‘on the spot’ decisions at any given match and all players must respect their judgment.
19. The playing schedule is to be strictly adhered to. There will be absolutely no changes or rescheduling made at any time (unless approved by UIC Head Admin/Co-Head Admins and even then with an absolutely exceptional reason).
20. Any rematches that we may come across MUST be played within 48 hours, if it is not, score will remain as is. Unless prior arrangements have been made with the UIC Admin's.
21. Any complaints about any rule violations,
Admin's, referees or opposing teams are to be substantiated with a screenshot and forwarded to the UIC Administrators.
22.
Safety shots (snookers) are legal in UIC.
23. LEAGUE VACANCY (League withdraws or is DQ’d from the UIC)
a) The first league that applies to fill the vacancy or the league that is in top position on the UIC waiting list shall fill the vacancy that this scenario creates.
b) Up until
the halfway point in any season the incoming league shall assume the ladder position of the outgoing league and also take on all points accrued by the outgoing league.
c) After
the halfway point the incoming league will assume the bottom position on the ladder and must build their own points totals from that point onwards.
24. Any league wanting to participate in UIC must be able to provide their team, team
Captain and Deputy Captain as well if possible*, and at least ONE
referee on standby should it be necessary to review and/or rescind the 'no referee' format) if it is found that referees will be required.
25. Camtasia is NOT a requirement for finals. However, if both players agree to it,
at ANYTIME then it may be used.
If both players do agree to play on cam, the winning tape MUST be sent to the other player within 1 hour of game completion.
26. Players will earn game credits and their team will earn a credit win whenever any of the following occurs:
a) A team is ready to play at the tables and the opposition team or part of that team is a 'no show'.
b) An opposition team has an incomplete line-up (ie 2 players) and cannot or would not have won the match.
c) A team has an enforced bye due to the team that they would have otherwise have played being disqualified or withdraws from UIC.
These will be shown on Player's Stats page as a C.
27. On completion of any match the Captains or Deputy Captains of ALL teams MUST post the result in the UIC Forum.
This includes posting their line-up for a bye or a no show.
If you are unsure how to do this see how to here >> http://users.igl.net/steven/uiccam/postinginforum.htm
If you don't post the results of the match and it is a repeated occurrence you will receive NO points or credits - DON'T MAKE US CHASE YOU!
28. New or stand-in Captains must familiarize themselves with the rules. Should there be something that they do not know or do not understand then they are to contact an Admin for clarification
29. FINALS SERIES – Player Eligibility: Any player intending to participate in the UIC Finals Series must have a minimum number of UIC games played in UIC.
This is dependant upon when a league joins UIC (a sliding scale link for eligibility is provided on the UIC main page).
Any game credits accrued will be applied.
It is the responsibility of the Captain to ensure their league has enough players eligible.
30. There is no requirement for home league activity prior to finals matches as players are already qualified.
UIC GAME SPECIFIC RULES
Home team Captains are in charge of tables each week.
1. All tables are to be "rated" and "protected" unless otherwise stated beforehand.
2. The cue ball must be moved prior to the break and if you sink the 8 ball on a break you are required to rerack.
3. If Yahoo gives a “ball in hand” after sinking 2 balls of different types off the break then the next shot is to be taken where it lies. If you fail to play the ball where it lies you are required to re-rack. This is an obvious Yahoo glitch as neither player has committed a foul shot and therefore BIH should NOT be taken.
(a) If after sinking 2 or more balls on the break and scratching as well it is more than likely yahoo will freeze the game - re-rack.
Only the winner has the right to offer a re-rack.
10. No re-racks will be permitted if there has been a total of 3 balls sunk in the game.
If a problem arises with a team an Admin is playing for
and the opposing team .. a different Admin MUST be called in to handle the
situation to avoid conflict of interest.
12.
TIMERS =
Regular UIC TIMERS:
First timer = 7 minutes.
Second timer on any other game = 5 minutes.
Once the combined total of 12 minutes has expired, the defaulting team loses the match.
FINALS TIMERS:
First timer = 10 minutes.
Second timer on any other game = 10 minutes.
Once the combined total of 20 minutes has expired, the defaulting team loses the match.
13.
If Yahoo boots a player from a table while they are actually playing in a
game there is every chance that Yahoo will give the opponent a win on
forfeit - We, in UIC, will not have that affect the game or match and it is
to be replayed !!!! Having said that, if a player that looks like they are
going to be defeated and suddenly forfeits, then we will go with that as an
intentional force forfeit and a penalty will be given.
14.
Coaching IS permitted in UIC.
15. Accusations, veiled comments or even joking about AA will first be largely ignored.
Do it once or even twice then it doesn't matter.
It's not UIC's problem if you wish to make an idiot of yourself and earn nothing but disrespect from your peers.
However, if there is continued harassment about it in the UIC lobby, on tables, in the 'accused' home room (and there will be no warning about this), or on Instant messengers -- Then banishment from UIC awaits any offenders and it is MOST DEFINITELY ENFORCED.
Don't let this happen to you as it only serves to disadvantage your league.
16. If a player has been called by a Captain and, for whatever reason, that player is unable to appear then the 'calling' Captain may ask the opposing Captain if they can call another player.
If the opposing Captain agrees, then a new player may be called, but the originally called player may NOT re-enter the match after this point.
If the opposing Captain does NOT agree, then the player called must appear - if they do not then a timer may be called for.
In the interests of sportsmanship an opposing Captain, at their discretion, may also offer the 'calling' Captain to call another player.
This rule may not be invoked just because a Captain has called a player incorrectly.

CAPTAINS GUIDE
Captains are responsible for various things such as choosing of players and organizing of your team for each match, the team's behavior and the strategy of the matches. Captains who are unable to responsibly perform the required tasks should think about relinquishing their Captain duties to a person who can be more reliable and active for his/her league's team.
UIC WEEKLY 5v5 SEASON MATCHES
Each Saturday your league is scheduled to play a match against another league, in 5v5 format.
The Captain's responsibility is to have 5 qualified players from your league chosen and organised long before the match start, and be in the designated room at least 15 minutes before match time.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE THE SAME 5 PLAYERS EVERY WEEK. ANY QUALIFIED PLAYER FROM YOUR LEAGUE CAN PLAY FOR YOU.
(*UIC Match Formats, Rules, and Player Qualifications can be viewed on the UIC main page*)
The Captain of the home team (first named on the schedule) has control of the table.
When the match is ready to begin, it is the Captain who chooses the order of players in the 5 game match.
The main idea is to strategically use your players in an order that you think will be good enough to get your league the 3 game wins it needs to win the match, taking into consideration the skill of the players used by your opponents.
The match ends when all 5 games are completed, the team with the most games won is declared the winners.
Make sure your team displays sportsmanship and courtesy towards your opponents and any UIC Staff. Never dispute their decision, as they are trained to handle all situations. Of course it is possible that a mistake could be made, but we must still continue on and not argue with UIC staff, just like in any other team competition.
VERY IMPORTANT
IF ANY OF YOUR PLAYERS ARE SUSPECTED OF ANY ACTIONS THAT HAVE BOOTED PLAYERS FROM ANY GAME THEN YOUR TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
IF ANY OF YOUR TEAM IS SUSPECTED OF LOCKING OR CONTINUOUSLY SPAMMING IN ANOTHER LEAGUE'S ROOM THEN YOUR TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
MAKING SURE YOUR PLAYERS ARE QUALIFIED
Here are the official UIC Players Qualifications.
When you choose players to play in a UIC event, always check to make sure they are qualified to play:
[1] To represent a league in play, a player must have played at least 20 games on their league's ladder.
[2] A player must be active in their home league within the 7 day period before any match.
[3] Yahoo! provisional ID's will be permitted to play. Players below 1200 rating are not eligible to play. Boosted ID's will be allowed.
[4] No player can play for more than 1 league. Once you have played in UIC for 1 league, you can not play for another league in the same season without proper approval from an Admin.
[5] When signing up to the UIC ladder, add your league initials and underscore to the front of your name. (ex: maryjane247 from straightshots (ss) would register to UIC as ss_maryjane247)
Yahoo ID, your home league ID, and UIC name (after initials) must all match exactly. (No Exceptions unless it's an SBC name as is stated in UIC general Rules)
* UIC Reserves the right to remove any players from the ladder who have improper or no league initials before their name.*
PLAYERS WHO WISH TO SWITCH TEAMS
Once the UIC Season begins, it is illegal for a player to switch leagues whenever they feel like it.
In order to change league representation in UIC, the player must first get permission from the UIC Head Administrator or UIC Co-Head Administrator.
If the switch is approved, then and only then, can the player change his representation initials on the UIC ladder.
Players who switch representation without permission, will have their league initials changed back with penalty to follow.
UIC Admins keep a daily track of all secured information on every player who withdraws therefore players who try to withdraw from the UIC then sign back up with a new league will be caught.
In between UIC Seasons, there will be a period where players can change league representation freely.
STAYING UP TO DATE AS CAPTAIN
As Captain, it is your duty to stay up to date with all of your UIC upcoming scheduled matches. Here are some very important links a Captain can use to keep up...
UIC MAIN PAGE
UIC SEASON SCHEDULE AND RESULTS
UIC OFFICIAL RULES
All Captains could be made TD's on the UIC ladder to receive important captain emails. (no necessity to host tourneys)
Always read the UIC newsletters and Captains emails to stay up to date with UIC news.
CONTROL YOUR TEAM IN ALL SITUATIONS
The Captain is responsible for your team's behavior.
If you notice players from your team displaying unsportsmanlike conduct, it is your duty to speak privately with them and get them to stop. Smooth matches with no arguments run a lot faster and better.
If you disagree with an Admin's decision, you must accept it and continue on, and make sure your players do the same.
You may appeal any decision made AFTER the match you are playing - not during.
Spamming, scrolling, swearing and using caps are NOT allowed during a UIC match.
REMEMBER, A GOOD CAPTAIN IS A PREPARED CAPTAIN!!
