UNIVERSAL POOL COMPETITION RULES

Make sure that you read and understand these rules – ignorance is no excuse!

Categories of rules and expected penalties are listed at the bottom of this page – READ THEM!

These rules are additional to, and to be read in conjunction with, the rules as laid down by the Administrators of the Case’s ladder system.

The Administrators of the UIC reserve the right to modify these rules from time to time as new situations arise.

Every effort will be made to inform all UIC members of any and all such rule changes.

If you cannot, or if you refuse to, abide by these rules then the UIC is NOT the place for you and it is strongly suggested that you move on.

Categories of rules and expected penalties are listed at the bottom of this page – READ THEM!

UNIVERSAL POOL COMPETITION GENERAL RULES

1. PROVISIONAL NAMES (i.e.: a name with less then 20 games) may NOT join the UIC.

2. Any screen name used must match your yahoo name exactly and may not be changed during the course of a season without the prior approval of a UIC Admin.

3. Any screen name used must have at least 20 games played in your home league with that name and must be active within the week prior to any match. Any member found to be manipulating their home league statistics in this instance will be penalised accordingly!

4. GHOST NAMES, deflated names and any otherwise manipulated names will NOT BE PERMITTED in the UIC.

5. Boosted names are OK - It is of no consequence to players when, if you win, you don’t win many points and if you lose, you lose a lot.

6. You may change leagues up to Week 15. After week 15 you may NOT change leagues. To change leagues you must have permission of BOTH Captains and a UIC Admin. Should you change leagues without a clearance then you will be subject to a penalty of 2 weeks.

7. Each Team Manager is responsible to check if members are qualified to play. Not doing so can result in DQ of whole UIC Team

8. No Forced Forfeits, "FF", under any circumstances. This includes, quitting and forfeiting on your opponent or yourself before a game has ended.

9. Sportsmanship is an expected requirement with UIC. Remember to use common sense

10. Foul language or disrespect of staff is not accepted at any time in either the lobby or the game tables.

11. Deliberately causing trouble in the lobby will not be tolerated.

12. Any dispute or other issue that you may have against another member, or staff member, must be taken to a private table and NEVER aired in the lobby.

13. Matches must be reported immediately on completion of a game or, if Cases is experiencing difficulties, it must be reported within 24 hours – an Admin will report the loss if this is not complied with and the players card will be marked accordingly.

14. Any form of cheating is unacceptable. This includes, the proven use of aiming assistance programs, leaving on the 8 ball, bringing up the cancel box and FF if your opponent gets booted. Other forms of cheating will be looked at on an individual basis.

15. You are only allowed ONE account with the UIC. If more then one account is detected it may result in ALL accounts being deleted and that includes all match histories.

Additionally your Team may possibly forfeit all points gained up to an including the time of the offence.

16. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid Email address. If one is found to be invalid it may result in your name being removed from the UIC. Updating this can be done under User Editor on the main page.

17. Those with a screen name deemed unsuitable will be asked to change it. Failure to comply with a reasonable request to change will result in a ban.

18. No member is to ever bring the name of the UIC into disrepute; either in the lobby of any room by spamming or in any other way.

19. Referees are the sole arbiters in any ‘on the spot’ decisions at any given match and all players must respect their judgement.

20. The playing schedule is to be strictly adhered to. There will be absolutely no changes or rescheduling made at any time.

21. Any complaints about any rule violations, referees or opposing teams are to be substantiated with a screenshot and forwarded to the UIC Administrators.

22. Any rematches that we may come across MUST be played within 48 hours, if it is not, score will stay as is. [Added 4/25/05]

23. SAFETY SHOTS should not be looked down on. They are as legal as a bank shot, and when players become upset that they have been "safetied", they should be reminded that this is part of the game. Players who use safety shots should not be discouraged or verbally battered by their opponents, the player should not be called dirty, cheap, cheater, or anything else. Safeties are legal and the referee should remind everyone of this when the topic arises.

24. LEAGUE VACANCY (League withdraws or is DQ’d from the UIC)
  a) Any league that this applies to will be ineligible for readmission to UIC until the completion of the following season, at which time if the league wishes to rejoin, then they are to make formal submission to the UIC Admin Team.
  b) The first league that applies to fill the vacancy or the league that is in top position on the UIC waiting list shall fill the vacancy that this scenario creates.
  c) Up until week 12 the incoming league shall assume the ladder position of the outgoing league and also take on all points accrued by the outgoing league.
d)After week 12 the incoming league will assume the bottom position on the ladder and must build their own points totals from that point onwards. [Revised on 4/23/05]

25. Any league wanting to participate in UIC must be able to provide their team, team manager *deputy manager as well if possible*, and at least ONE referee. [Added 4/17/05]

26. Players are forbidden to change leagues after week 15.

27. There will be no more additions made to the UIC league listing. All open spots have now become a Bye as of June 5, 2005. The completion of UIC Season One will terminate this rule. [Added 6/5/05]

28. UIC will enter lockdown mode on completion of week 18. So have all players signed up before this time if you want them to play [Revised on 4/24/05].

29. FINALS SERIES – Player Eligibility Any player intending to participate in the UIC Finals Series must have a minimum of 3 UIC games played in UIC. Any game credits accrued will be applied.

UNIVERSAL POOL COMPETITION GAME RULES

1. All tables are to be "rated" and "protected" unless otherwise stated beforehand.

2. The cue ball must be moved prior to the break and if you sink the 8 ball on a break you are required to rerack.

3. If yahoo gives a “ball in hand” after sinking 2 balls of different types off the break then the next shot is to be taken where it lies.

If you fail to play the ball where it lies you are required to rerack.

This is an obvious Yahoo glitch as neither player has committed a foul shot and therefore BIH should NOT be taken.

4. We have a "GG" rule in UIC. It is a requirement it be said AFTER the 8 ball has dropped only. It is in your best interest, no matter the outcome of your game, to show good sportsmanship.

5. Attempting to intimidate an opponent with “jinxing” or “taunting” is not permitted.

6. Gamesmanship and sledging ARE allowed but if asked to stop then you are to do so immediately.

7. No Forced Forfeits "FF" under any circumstances. This includes, quitting and forfeiting on yourself before a game has ended.

8. Glitches by yahoo are a fact of life in yahoo pool, learn to live with them; excessive complaining about them will get you both disrespect and a penalty.

9. In fairness to all any reracks must go to a best of 3 unless otherwise agreed to by the opposing players or team managers.

10. Any disputes will be settled by the referee that is conducting the match and the decision of the referee is final.

Failure to comply with the instruction of the referee in any dispute will result in the disqualification of the offender.

11. All timers shall be of 7 minutes duration, excepting finals series where they shall be of 10 minutes.

12. Coaching is permitted in UIC.

A decision will be made during the season with regard to the necessity of Camtasia for the Finals!
