A Quick Wordsteal Tutorial

1. Go to http://wordsteal.com and click on Register in the upper left corner of the green page.

2.  Notice that it may be necessary for you to download Sun Java at some point in order for your rooms to load. 

3.  Fill in a user name, a password, repeat your password, enter a valid email address (in case you lose your password), and enter the encrypted letters shown in the image.  Click Register.

4.  When you return to the Wordsteal main page, choose the room you are going to play in from the list of rooms.

5.  Login using your player name (I believe they are case sensitive) and your password.  Click Play.

6.  Give the site time to load the desired lobby.  It will first go to a grey screen with a java cup in the upper left.  The room will then load as shown below.  You can see the game tables, the chat lobby, a list of players in the room (with their ratings and which table they are seated at beside their name on the list).  Find an empty table and click the Join button as shown below.

 A box will appear as the server is contacted and your table loads.  Just let it do its thing.  Your table will then open.

7.  Your table is now open, your name is displayed in one of the 4 player colors to the top right.  Click the Options button to set your table options the way you would like them.

8.  Change the winning score and time per turn by using the up or down arrows to give more or less points/time until you reach the desired amounts.  Click other options below to allow or disallow watchers, allow or disallow S steals, and to allow or disallow clearing (PINKS).  Click OK when you are done.

9.  The seconds, points to win, S choice, pinks choice, and watchers choice will now be displayed below the player name/score boxes.  Check to make sure they are how you want them before you begin. 

10.  Click Start Game to begin playing.

11.  Shows you the number of "watchers" your table has.

12.  This button allows you to momentarily view the lobby.

13.  Hit Quit if something is wrong with the game and you need to exit and start anew.  Don't hit this button unless you mean to!

14.  One thing to get used to about wordsteal is that when the game reaches the winning score, it will automatically dump your table and return you to the lobby.  Get used to saying your farewells early or doing it in the lobby when the game is finished.  Notice the server displays the scores for all tables that finish.

15.  If at any point in your room you hit the VIEW LOBBY button you will want to hit (#15) the BACK TO GAME button to return you to your table so that you don't miss a turn.  The lobby will inform you when it's your turn in yellow print if you happen to be peeking out there at the time.
