RULES - LADDER, FORMAL CHALLENGE and TOURNAMENT
GTW League was created for the purpose of "friendly and fun competition." It has always been GTW's policy that LADDER MATCHES are for "FUN."
Ladder matches are for the purpose of advancing in rank in the League and should be fun, honest competition. The TOP 10 positons (#1 - #10) are not meant to be "hogged". Every player should have an honest opportunity to try to achieve a TOP 10 position and should be able to advance through tournament play. Therefore, any player in the Top Ten ranks (1 - 10 rank positions) will not be allowed to ladder. Any player in positons 11 and below may feel free to ladder for friendly competiton and for the purpose of advancing for a better chance to win one of the Top Ten ranks during tournament play. Any player(s) suspected of attempting to "manipulate" games to achieve a TOP 10 position, will lose the right to ladder for a period determined by the Admins and will lose rungs on the ladder. REMEMBER #1 is only a number and not worth the loss of friends and good will!
GIN TO WIN LADDER RULES embrace the basics of, but supercede Case/MyLeague rules.
ALL LADDER MATCHES WILL BE REPORTED AS ON A PER GAME BASIS! Players may Ladder the same opponent only 3 times per day and each LOSS must be reported immediately.
TOP RANK TOURNAMENT RULES
Effective 6/2/07
- The winner of the TOP RANK TOURNAMENT (held weekly) will receive the honor of first place until the next TOP RANK TOURNAMENT is held, or until the position is lost in tournament play!
- The winner of the TOP RANK TOURNAMENT must play in a minimum of one tournament a day (and hopefully more) to allow other members to try and win first place or to move up to one of the Top Ten ranks.
- There will be NO LADDERING allowed for this position. The winner of the TOP RANK TOURNAMENT does not have to ladder anyone for the TOP RANK position. And no one is allowed to request a ladder match for the purpose of taking over the TOP RANK position. (NOTE: This rule applies to any one who has achieved the #1 position through either the Top Rank Tournament or regular tournament play.)
- If circumstances do not allow them to play in at least one tournament a day, they must notify the Head Admin and request a pass on this rule. But in fairness, they must make every effort to play at least one tournament.
- The purpose of the TOP RANK TOURNAMENT is to give EVERYONE a chance at first place!
LADDER MATCHES
- There will be NO laddering by any player in Ranks 1 through 10. NO EXCEPTIONS! Advancement for these ranks will be won through TOP rank or regular tournament play only!
- Only players of Ranks 12 and below may request a ladder match of any player above them. You may not request a match from someone below your current rank. (Example: Rank #12 may ask for a ladder match with Rank #11, but Rank #11 may not request for a ladder match with Rank #12.)
- ALL ladder challenges will be issued in the GTW lobby chat area. NO LADDER REQUESTS will be made via email or instant messaging or at a table. NEVER at any time, is a player to go to another game lobby and request a ladder match. Any violation of this rule will result in the match results being nulled and the win removed from the player(s) stats by the Admins.
- Requests will be made politely and if the request is refused because the player is in another game or tournament or has a prior commitment, there will be no arguments or rude comments. There will be no LISTS for laddering. Ladder games will be played as soon as possible after a request is made, unless previous commitments prevent that. Example: "A (ranked 20th)" invites "B (ranked 15th)" to ladder, but "B" would rather play "C (ranked 11th)" (and who is not available at moment), "B" MUST play "A" first. There will be no "preferential" treatment because of rank and/or the desire to advance in rank. ALL ladder requests will be considered equally and played on a "first come, first served" basis. All requests to ladder should be considered "equal". If you have been asked to ladder and can not ladder at that time - then please state a reason as to why you can not ladder at that time - do not just say NO and leave. You may suggest a time you will be available. Do not just ignore a request to ladder. And in that light, the requester of a ladder match must also accept that a player may have prior commitments and not be available at that time.
- ALL completed Ladder match losses are to be reported BEFORE another match is played and before participation in a tournament. If the Ladder match is not completed before the start of the tournament - that uncompleted Ladder match is considered VOID and must be RESTARTED (no starting the match with previous scores) as soon as possible after the tournament. All efforts must be made to complete a Ladder match as soon as possible. There are NO exceptions to this rule, except when the REPORT LOSS site is not operating, in which case report the problem immediately to an Admin and/or the Host on duty at that time.
- ALL LADDER MATCHES must be 100 games (Knock, No Knock or Oklahoma) and every effort must be made to mutually agree on the type of game, but a ladder may NOT be refused because of the type of game chosen by the challenger. If an agreement CAN NOT be made by both players the game MUST BE 100 Knock to be fair to both players. A 30 second timer will be used and Ladder matches are never set as Rated. Also, check to "ALLOW WATCHERS."
- The LOSER of the ladder match ALWAYS reports the LOSS. No one may report a match for another player, as this will be flagged as a CHEAT by Case and will result in loss of playing privileges.
The GIN TO WIN League utilizes the “My League” Ladder reporting and tracking system, powered and supplied free of charge by Cases Ladder.
Rank gain for a win is 40% (example: member “A” ranked 20, member “B” ranked 12 - “A” wins a ladder match against “B”, “A” moves to rank 16 (#20 - #12 = 8; 8 x 40% = 4 rungs; "A" moves up from #20 to #16.
Any two members are only allowed to play a maximum of 3 ladder matches per day against each other.
Members must wait 10 minutes between reporting ladder losses.
A member in the TOP 50 ranks will lose rank and drop rungs after 2 days of inactivity.
The above rules are subject to change and update. This page will reflect any changes as soon as they are made.
FORMAL CHALLENGE RULES
There will be NO FORMAL CHALLENGES at any time by any rank player.
ANY QUESTIONS please contact the Admins at any time for clarification.
TOURNAMENT RULES
The rules are determined by the individual TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR (TD) holding the event. Rules will be given prior to pairings of players. Please pay attention to the TD in the lobby at the beginning of all tours.
ALL players must use their proper POGO names to play in tournaments or to ladder. If you have registered to play in a tournament event then you MUST be in the same POGO name that you used to join GIN TO WIN.
