AND YOUR ABILITY TO FOLLOW THEM BEFORE SIGNING UP TO JOIN. THANK YOU.
HOW TO LADDER
A ladder is a way that you can play another league member to help advance up the
ladder to get to first place.
It is also another way of increasing your rating. There is no limit to the amount
of ladders that you can have with the same person in one day.
Ladder matches are to be run in OUR GAME ROOMS ONLY and the tables are to be set
the same way as a tournament would be with one exception.
You may play a rated ladder match as long as it is agreed upon by both players.
It is the responsibility of the players to make sure that the table is set as they
wish.
Members of the same household may NOT ladder one another unless it is reported by
host!
You may choose any game we host to ladder with, and any twist you want, as long as
it is agreed upon by both players.
If there can be no agreement, and it is a formal challenge, please play using the
regular rules with no twist.
In all instances the loser of the ladder match must report the loss.
That is done by using the "report loss box" that is on the top of the main league
page along side the jump boxes. The loser has up to 30 min to report the loss.
If there are any problems then please use the link on the left side of the main
league page and send an email to the admin of the league.
If you have any further questions, then please ask a TD in the room for assistance.
HOW TO DO A FORMAL CHALLENGE
Go to the ladder portion of the page and click on formal challenge. Place the name of the person
you wish to challenge in the box along with your name and password. They will be notified and have 7 days
to meet with you and play the game that is being challenged. The loser reports in the report loss box on the page.
If 7 days go by without the challenge being played then the one who issued the challenge will win by forfeit.
This is an excellent way to improve your ladder ranks.
SINGLE ELIMINATION
In a Single Elimination game you play until you lose a round. After your first
loss you are out of the tour. Single Elimination games are uses primarily in
special event tours such as the Tournament of Champions. There is one single
winner at the end of this tour.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION
In a Double Elimination game you play until you have lost a total of two rounds.
After your second loss you are out of the tour. The tour continues for as long as
it takes to have one single winner who has not lost twice. There are no "Byes" in
a Double Elimination, however, you may occasionally have a stand-by round in which
you aren't playing actively for the tour itself.
SWISS
In a Swiss tour you play in every round whether you lose the previous round or
not. The one exception would be if you receive a "Bye" during the tour. There are
two types of Swiss Tournaments. The first type, a Regular Swiss, is played until
there is one single winner and has no pre-specified number of rounds. The second
type, a True Swiss, has a pre-set number of rounds and is the one type of tour in
which ties may occur.
WHAT IS A "BYE"?
The term "Bye" is used to represent an automatic win. Byes are used when the
tournament has an odd number of players. Due to the odd number, one person in
every round will receive a Bye (automatic win). During a Bye you may choose to
play the game for fun or do something else as you wait for the next round to be
announced. However, you shouldn't wander too far from your computer or you could
miss the next round's pairings and be disqualified.
HEY! I GOT BOOTED OFFLINE
Online leagues have the disadvantage of dealing with things like power outages,
computer failures, and Pogo errors. In an instance where a member is booted
offline for whatever reason, this is the standard rule. If you were booted before
you had a score on the board for the current game round, you will receive a re-do
round with your pair upon your return (provided it is with-in the allotted 5 minute
period). If a score was on the board for you, you will continue to play upon your
return and do your best to make up for lost time. The host will place booted
members on a timer. You are allowed 3 boots or a total of 5 minutes during a
round. After the 3rd boot or the 5 minutes, whichever comes first, you will be
disqualified from that round. If you have not returned before the next round is
generated, you will be removed from the rest of the tour.
LEADER-BOARD GAMES
Any game that has a leader board, such as Lottso, Dice City Roller, Poppa
Zoppa, etc., will be scored as follows. At the start of each round you will be
given your pair. Please remember who you are playing so as not to create confusion
for the Host at the end of the round. After each round the Host will ask you
to "Report". When the final scores are posted each person playing in that round
will report the winner//loser of their pair in the main chat area. Please try to
hold your chat down while scores are collected to make it easier on your Host. If
you have a "Bye" PLEASE refrain from posting in chat with such things as ME//Byeguy
as they only take up chat space and create confusion for the Host of the game.
TOKEN COUNT GAMES
Unless specified differently by the Host of a game, all token count games are done
as followed. When your host asks for you token count or your digits, you will look
at the game board to find your Pogo token total. You will then type the LAST 5
digits of that token total in chat for the Host to collect. You will give these
totals before and after each round unless you have a "Bye" or the Host has your
unchanged count from the previous round. These games are done in timed rounds.
The Host will tell you the number of minutes in each round and will give time
updates as the round progresses. Your game should remain idle between each round
while the Host figures the next round pairs. PLEASE DO NOT PLAY BETWEEN ROUNDS.
You are expected to respond promptly when the Host calls STOP and asks for your
token count. The only exception would be if you happen to be in the middle of a
bonus round or a spin and are unable to pause the game. In those cases, please
report "BONUS ROUND" or "SPIN" in chat, so the Host knows why you are delaying your
reponse. If you receive tokens during your tour for Pogo challenge badges, Personal
challenges, Premium album badges, Mix and Match badges, or any other extra credit
tokens, you are responsible to report the win and token amount to the game Host so
that they can be deducted from your tour score.
TABLE GAMES
Hosts will announce all table settings prior to giving pairs or they may decide to
set the tables for each pair. The password for our league is "playhouse".
BOWLING HANDICAPS
We offer bowling handicaps for those who bowl on a continuous basis. Scores are
monitored and your handicap is reset each month and posted on the page under Member Links.
We use a base figure of 210 at 90% along with your bowling average from a minimum of 3 games.
If you are new or don't bowl often enough to have your handicap figured automatically
you will need to request one from the bowling host. They will have you bowl a minimum of 3 games
and report your scores. Bowl your normal game. Any gutter balls (blank frames) will disqualify
that game from going toward your handicap average.
