Bernie: This month I am spotlighting a very special person. Jan has been a Gazer for 6 (give or take a few months) years. I remember playing with her when she first joined. She is one of those people that doesn't talk a lot, at least not about herself. So I was very happy when she agreed to let me spotlight her. Here is Jan's story.

Jan: I'm one of 5 children, all still alive so far. Met my husband when i was 28 and married now 25 years. I'll be 60 this year. I never thought i would live this long!!! I have one daughter and 2 grandboys that still live in Oregon. I was born in Portland Oregon. We moved to Ketchikan Alaska in 1991, then bought our house in Kenai in 1997.

I became a cosmetologist in 1972 and worked until 2006 when i went back to Oregon for 2 years until mom died of Alzheimers, then I arrived back in Alaska with a new puppy named Yoda. A Chinese Pug Nose.

I've been a Stargazer for about 6 years. I love a lot of the people here. One of my favorites is Terry. So I plan on sticking around. You won't see me for many Suicide tours, but I'm usually playing regular spades.

As far as advice for new members, hhhhmmmmmm well I found if i just keep my mouth shut and remember that we are all just playing a game and doing the best we can. It's easy to get over involved but then I remember how long it took me to learn spades and that we all are here to have fun.

Speaking of fun, the most fun thing i have done in years was when I went to Hawaii last month and I got to swim with the world's only "wolfin". Father was a killer whale, mother a dolphin. It was fantastic! What a ride it was sooooooo strong.

I want to thank all the members here at Stargazers for being such a wonderful family for us to enjoy.

Bernie: No Jan, thank you for being a GAZER. You are awesome, and as far as your spades skillz go, I will partner with you anytime.
