Bernie: Christy is a relatively new member as well as a new Admin. She graciously allowed me to spotlight her...Here is her story...
Christy: 1. Tell us about yourself, your family, your hobbies, your work, anything you would like to know about someone else but in reverse. I am 47 and married to my high school sweetheart..... married 30 years next year. Have 3 kids ages, 28, 27, 25 and they have blessed me with 5 grandkids with one more in the oven. I work at a hospital and have been there for 31 years - currently working in Information Technology, which I love !!! I would say when I'm not playing or directing tourneys, we enjoy spending time at the casino or with the grandkids. I also do like to spend a little time in Pogo.
2. Where are you from, where do you live now? How does living where you live affect the way you play in gazers? I live in Iowa - was born and raised here. I have adjusted to talking at times in "EST". At this point in my life I don't see me living anywhere else... i'm not sure that living in Iowa has affected the way I play in gazers but living in Iowa has helped me be the person that I am. I am lucky that I was able to raise all my kids here and that they are all still very close.
3.After coming into suicide lounge 4, what made you stay? What keeps you in gazers? I've been in and out of gazers off and on for several years but just this year - i've realized that gazers is where I want my spades home to be.The members here are great!!! I love directing tourneys, sometimes even more than playing and the reason I enjoy it so much is because of the members !! I love running big tours and there are not many leagues out there that you can do this in. You're stuck with me in gazers!!!!
4. When do you play? Days, or hours? What is the time difference between where you are and when we play. What do you sacrifice in order to be in gazers? I normally play some in the evenings during the week and on the weekend it just depends on what is going on. If I had to list something that I sacrifice in order to be in gazers...I would have to say my housework sometimes takes a backseat :)
5. What is your favorite game? I have to say my favorite game is Suicide...then Truth or Dare...then Mirror Spades :) Suicide is a game that grows on you, if ever i play rated - its always Suicide.
6. What is your least favorite game? Ground Zero - it's kinda a mindless game.... and I won't play it. Most I'll play...I'll never complain, if I don't like a game...i have the choice to join or not...and I'm just thankful we have TDs filling slots.
7. What advice would you give to a new member or someone wanting to join gazers? I would tell them they are making a great decision. To get in and give it time to get to know people...I would definitely tell them how great all the members are and if you come across one that isn't so great...don't let that one person chase you away...not worth it !!
8. Do you have a special memory of something that occurred in gazers that you want to share with gazers? All of my memories so far in gazers have been special ones..... I truly enjoy my time here.
9. If you are staff, WHY...WHY would u do a job like that? What do you get out of it?? Why do I chose to be on staff in gazers? Well first and foremost - I love the league and without staff & members - it wouldn't be. I love running tournaments - and am glad I can do that for the members. My ideal tourney is where everyone makes tables with no second calls...everyone keeps play steady and everyone has fun. I do have to say the majority of the time in gazers is drama free and that is what I LOVE! Thanks for letting me a part of your family !!!!!
Bernie: No,Thank You, Christy, You are already an important member of Staff, Welcome Aboard!! and before I forget, YANNKKKKK!!
