Bernie: One thing that I could go on and on about is the person that I am spotlighting this month. She is truly a wonderful person. She is usually so quiet, but I have found in the past couple of months she does have an awesome and sometimes wicked sense of humor. She is always so polite, but I bet a 1000 bux, if you tick her off, she could get mean!! From being around her more lately, I can tell you ...she don't like rude people, or mean people, she doesn't like people being disrespectful or having bad sportsmanship. Last month she was awarded the Good Sportsmanship Award. This award is given to those players who are excellent representatives of Stargazers and always a great example to others on how to conduct oneself during competition. Those are excellent words to describe butlerfolk. Sandra is awesome..but don't tell her I said that. Here is Sandra's story:

1. Sandra: Tell us about yourself. Your family, your hobbies, your work, anything you would like to know about someone else but in reverse.

One husband, Jack, married 45 years; three sons, two daughters-in-law, and 3 grandchildren. I was a church secretary for 20 years, and Jack was a banker. We love to travel (Kentucky was my home away from home for a long time). Other than spades, I work crossword puzzles, watch TV, and read (favorites are mysteries and historical novels)

2. Where are you from, where do you live now?

Native Texan, born in Dallas; we lived in various Texas towns during our working years, ending up in Houston. All our children live in the area.

3. After coming into suicide lounge 4, what made you stay? What keeps you in gazers?

I came because I had friends here and stay for the same reason.

4. When do you play? Days, or hours? What is the time difference between where you are and how we play. What do you sacrifice in order to be in gazers?

I'm a night owl, so I'm usually not up in time for the 10 a.m. tourney, (sleeping in is the best part of retirement!), but I play day and night as I can work them in and depending on what the game is.

5. What is your favorite game?

Regular spades in most any form.

6. What is your least favorite game?

Mirrors and some forced-bid games; I'm on the fence about suicide.

7. What advice would you give to a new member or someone wanting to join gazers?

It's a great place to get to know people, and those who do all the work to make it that way are hard-working and conscientious about keeping things running smoothly. They are the ones making the sacrifices for the good of the league.

8. Do you have a special memory of something that occurred in gazers that you want to share with gazers?

Not really.

9. If you are td/htd/admin why in the world would you want to do this when you are already at a disadvantage time wise?

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and not gonna do it again!! But it was rewarding in many respects and having done it makes me appreciate our Gazers staff that much more.
