JUST 4 FUN TD GUIDE |
|
Welcome!!! Thank you for your interest in being a Tournament Director with Just 4 Fun!!! Listed below are the Just 4 Fun TD Rules. Please read them carefully as it is important for all staff to be familiar with rules and procedures used in 4fun. If you have any questions or suggestions about this guide; please notify a TD Manager. |

General Staff Rules We require all staff to
be active in Just 4 Fun. If you are idle from hosting
for 31 days, you will be removed from the TD team unless you have
contacted a TD Manager with a valid reason. If something happens to keep you from hosting your minimum please contact a TD Manager and let them know what is going on. We understand sometimes things happen that will keep you from being able to host, but if you don't have contact with us we may end up removing you for inactivity. With a "Vacation" status you will not be allowed to host or play. This status will be allowed for 31 days after which time you will be removed and placed back on active. On an "Active-Exempt" status, you will be allowed to play in a maximum of 10 tourneys, 25 league games and will be expected to host if at all possible. Active-exempt will be allowed for 30 days and requests will be granted on a per case basis. Only TD Managers or Admins can put a staff on either status. In order to ensure that
our members recognize our staff, name changes will only be allowed once
every 6 months. The exception to this is staff that has had a recent
promotion from TD to HTD or HTD to Admin. These staff members will be
allowed to change their name upon promotion if they wish. However, they
must then keep that name for 6 months. **All name changes need to be posted in TD Forum so all staff are aware of
them.** If you withdraw from the league, you lose your TD account. If this happens, we cannot retrieve your stats. If you need bux please do NOT withdraw. Notify an admin and we will get bux for you. If you notice lobby behavior that is unacceptable, please notify an ADMIN. If no admin are available, then please get a HTD. If there are no admin or HTD available, please send an IM to the person. If they do not answer your IM's, please make a table and invite them. If you have trouble getting them to the table, then please go to the lobby and ask that they accept your invite. Handle the situation the best you can, do NOT get confrontational or abusive. Please make sure that you take Screen shots and email them along with a description of what happened to any admin. You can reach any admin using their league id@myleague.com (ex: wild_sun_set@myleague.com) Also, please leave admin an offline that there was an issue in the lobby and you took care of it. If you do not know how to take screen shots, please notify an admin and we will teach you how. This information is IMPERATIVE for you as a staff member in 4fun Behavior As a staff member in 4fun, you are a representative at all times. Your behavior in lobby, IM's, League games and Tourney tables is under constant watch. You should lead members by example. If you are in the lobby cursing, being rude, vulgar or disrespectful, you are telling our members that this behavior is acceptable..IT IS NOT!!! Please conduct yourself as a professional at all times when in Decent Digs or handling a league issue. Any staff that cusses in the lobby or at tourney tables will be automatically boxed with no warning given.
Staff are subject to the same set of rules and punishments as our members. Publicly defacing or degrading the league can result in your demotion or removal from staff in 4fun. Staff members that are found to be cheating in any way are subject to immediate removal from staff with no warnings given. Continually breaking league rules or repeated occurrences of being boxed are also ground for removal from staff. You may not host while in the box. If you are boxed for any reason, you will be placed on vacation status and banned from the league message forum for the duration of your boxing. Do not discuss TD matters in the lobby!! This belongs in private IM's. If you have a problem with another staff member, please try to work it out between yourselves. We are all adults. If you cannot work it out between the two of you then please go to any admin. They will try their best to assist you. If they feel that they cannot help you, then they will forward the issue to the appropriate admin. Try not to use caps for conversation in the lobby, try to switch back and forth when you can. We know this is difficult, but please try to switch caps off for all conversation not related to the tourney you are hosting. RESPECT for other staff members and members has been getting out of control. The talk in the lobby of other tds to other tds has got to stop; that looks very badly on the league. If you have a problem with another TD plz come to one of the TD Managers (cakeeeeee, Reed_Tardicus, badgirl.4fun, damitdonkey) with the problems, we will address them. We as staff are held at higher levels than just members but we also are members and we do play canasta. So please have respect for the tds hosting these tourneys for us. As a member of the hosting staff, sometimes things happen, and either you or a fellow TD will struggle. If this happens, please ask for help from another td or help out your fellow TD. We are a team, we are here to help each other and make things fun for the members of this league! |

General Hosting rules
No hosting 2 speed-type tourneys in a row, either on the calendar or as a TD. You must host a full type tourney between hosting two speed-type tourneys. We want variety on the calendar as well as from each staff member when hosting. 1ST: A staff member may
NEVER play in more than ONE-1-UNO tourney or league game or non-
league game when hosting. We ask that you only host what you know you are capable of hosting without holding up or causing any delays in your tourneys. Please remember if you are hosting in prime time you have the potential for larger tourneys and this should be considered when you are making your tourneys. If you over extend yourself then the Quality of your Tourneys will suffer and Quality is Important. If a TD Manager finds you are hosting more then you are capable of, steps my be taken and we may end up limiting your hosting. If a Htd runs more then half a tourney (this includes the 30 min spam time) then they are to finish it. If the HTD wants to give the tourney back that is their option. {ex: HTD spams for a mia single tourney (30 min) hosts round 1 and 2 (45min each =90 min) =120 min mia td shows up to host round 3 and 4 which is only 90 min. Htd has run more then half so Htd finishes the tourney and claims it for credit.} If an HTD finishes hosting finals of tourney and the mia staff is not around, they are to close the tourney out, so that members can get their bux and stats. The original staff member forfeits the small hosting bux due to being mia and the HTD will get them by closing the tourney. An HTD should only send in a covered tourney report if they hosted at least half of the tourney. The original td maintains the credit if they ran majority of it. Covered tourney’s should be emailed to damitdonkey. Please send in tournament bux summary report (or if dont get those send jump #, date, original td name, and covering td name.) Any two or more people who live in the same house or share the same IP address will be considered same household. Same household members will not be allowed to participate in League Games together in any way (doubles as partners or opponents nor singles games), as they are not allowed to report losses to each other. In Tournaments ,Same Household are not allowed to partner each other , if same household join a random tourney and are partnered together a sub will be gotten for one of them. They will be allowed to play against each other in singles tourneys or in doubles tourneys as the TD reports the matches. They may not play as subs against or for one another in League or Tourney games. Exceptions to same household partnering; Married to It Doubles, Tag Team Doubles (played as singles), Musical Chairs and multiplayer tourneys i.e.: 2x2 (two players, both play single games) 3x3, 4x4 not as partners in doubles portion. To view same household members use the following link: http://users.igl.net/mlp417/Same_Household.htm
Tourney Issues
IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TOURNEY ISSUES OCCUR, PLEASE EMAIL badgirl.4fun WITH THE NECESSARY
SCREEN SHOTS AND INFORMATION (If necessary, Kimber will forward to admin to review situations further). OTHER ISSUES THE FOLLOWING NEED TO BE SENT TO THE ADMIN(S) LISTED BELOW FOR EACH
CATEGORY. |

Calendar Rules Doubles may NOT be hosted at times other than listed here, just remember no singles should be hosted in the above time slots. If there is a skill dbls in a reserved dbls slot, please do NOT buddy it with a non-skill dbls - unless it is your own. Buddying TourneysThese are tourneys that are hosted in the same spot on the calendar together to give our members better variety. You can buddy any singles tourney with another singles tourney, or dbls with another dbls tourney, but do not do a mixture of both singles and dbls in one time slot. Buddy tourneys may be hosted by 1 td or can be shared by 2 tds. If you are sharing the same time spot with another td, You do not have to ask the td if you may buddy, however you do need to IM them and let them know that you have buddied them and you will do the spamming. All Tourneys marked SE are special event tournaments and may NOT be buddied unless its another SE tourney or an invite only tourney such as TOC. Multiples also may not be buddied. Tourneys marked TR are training tourneys and may NOT be buddied either. Variety on Calendar: Skill/Non-skill In Just4fun we have skill and non-skill players. It is our job as TD's to do our best to please both. This means having a variety of skill dbls and non-skill dbls, skill singles and non-skill singles. All staff should do their best to host both skill and non-skill tourneys. We know at times that it may be harder to fill a skill tourney and it may take a little more effort to get it going, but it's better to make an effort than no effort at all. If td managers find that staff are not hosting enough skill tourneys then we may be forced to make stricter hosting rules, which we do not want to do. If at any time a skill tourney does not get filled, it needs to be cancelled (not moved) and the td needs to put in reason box the game type and how many in, etc. Rules for moving /Canceling Tourneys Never move a tourney with less than an hour to scheduled start time or with people registered for it. If you cannot host your tourney, then please contact an Admin or HTD so that they may make arrangements to have your tourney covered. If you have spammed your tourney and still do not have enough players to close after the allotted grace period (5 mins past for singles, 10 mins for doubles) then please CANCEL the tourney and under REASONput the NAME OF GAME and the NUMBER OF PLAYERS REGISTERED. |

Setting up Tourneys Tourney Time Slots Tournaments can be set in the 00, 15, 30 and 45 min slots on the calendar. If you are going to put a tournament on the 15/45 minute time slot and there are already tournaments made in the half hourly or hourly; PLEASE MAKE THESE with AT LEAST 30 minutes advance warning for the tds you are hosting around. You then MUST contact the TD you have hosted around and let them know you have put up a tournament, and also to offer to spam their tournaments with yours. It is NOT acceptable for them to you have hosted close to them with your spam in the lobby and not to spam for them as well. Again, remember however; that some of these slots are set dbls slots. Click here for general information on RACE DAYS held on tuesdays and saturdays. All tourneys should have the name of the tourney clearly listed on the main tourney page as well as in the location box of your tourney. All tourney rules must match the game type listed on main tourney page. If these do NOT match, and it is not noticed until after tourney is closed, then you must host the tourney according to the game rules page NOT the main tourney page. Please be sure when pasting the rules to your tourney page that you use ONLY JUST 4 FUN'S RULES THAT ARE PROVIDED ON OUR TD HELP PAGE!!! This assures that our members are not confused when playing in our tourneys. Double checking before creating When you make your tournaments, BE SURE that you set everything before clicking on create. Make sure you set the right number of players per team, (and the correct number of rounds, 8 is always a sure thing) and set your box if you are charging them. Also be sure you type in the kind of tournament after Decent Digs in location. EX: DD/Cut. You may use one of our speed tourneys on the td help page or you can change any game on our td help page to a 2 HAND game. If you are changing a regular tourney into a speed you need to make sure you mark the tourney as a 2 hand tourney ex: ***2 HAND SEX*** as well you need to add this to your rules This is a 2 handed game. 15 min time limit and the player with the highest score after the 2 hands or the time expires wins. 5 min MIA timer. |

Hosting Tourneys As much as we would love to see EVERY tourney close ON TIME, it doesn't always happen. Singles tourneys are to be closed NO LATER than 5 minutes after scheduled start time. Doubles and multiples are allowed TEN minutes past time. There should be no reason for tourneys to be held open later than this. DO NOT spam your tourney until the TD before you has closed their tourney, unless it is 5 minutes past closing time and the tourney before yours has not closed, then you may spam for your tourney. Please be considerate of the other TD, and pay close attention so that you don't spam out something they may be trying to say in the lobby. Sometimes they don't close because they may be trying to get somebody on auto so they don't drop a player, or trying to get bux to a member so they can join the tourney. Also, please do not spam out the pairings of the TD before you as soon as they post them to the lobby. Give the players a chance to see the pairings please. You should be in the lobby no less than 30 minutes prior to your tourney start time for singles or doubles and no less than 1 hour before for multiples. With time slots so close together, often the tourney before you will not have closed when you want to start spamming. In this case, we ask that you include both tourneys in your spam, or choose to hold off and spam once they close. If for some reason the tourney before you has NOT closed at minutes past, then you may spam your tourney. Spam no more than once every 5 minutes. Please be aware of other td's hosting around you and do not spam out their pairings. Also, on regular days (not race days), for example a TD has a tourney set for 7pm, then another TD comes along and puts one for 645pm, the TD who has put the Trny up last(645) is supposed to spam for both. Keep Spams to 2 lines max please include name of tourney, time of tourney, jump number, bux and league address (www.myleague.com/4fun). EX.:
Crazy 8's@ 10am Each time you post pairings in lobby, you need to include the time. Inviters have 3 minutes from that time for singles (5 for doubles) to make their tables and invite you. After this time has expired, you are to have the opponent make and invite. They get choice of seat at this time. An MIA timer is to be started on the absent player using the time of pairings posted in the lobby. The exception to this is a staff member that is playing in your tourney cannot make a table because of being at too many tables due to hosting. In this case, you ask their opponent to make and invite but don't sit. Our tables are PRIVATE. Only the TD and players should be present unless an admin or HTD is requested for the table. We do NOT allow visitors. Due to the fact that we play on private tables, KIBITZ checks should NEVER be performed in singles. The only time Kibitz will be used in Doubles is at the request of an ADMIN. In order to keep things moving along, we have a time limit on our games: 60 minutes for doubles, 45 minutes for singles, and 15 minutes for speed-type games (any regular game made into 2 hands or any game listed in the Speed section of our TD Help page). As staff you need to give warning of game time limit approahing. Please give 10 minute warning for singles and 15 for dbls, and 5 min for speed. If a game goes the full time allotted, game is to be called at the end of the current hand being played. You should always post GAME NAME, COMPLETE GAME RULES, Time allotted for game and Game start time. There is no need to spam make tables etc etc at the tables.
All of our games are played at PRIVATE tables. Because of this, a TD should NEVER kibitz UNLESS they are hosting Naked Nasta or another game on our TD Help page that requires Kibitz on. Doubles will NOT be Kibitzed unless a TD was approached with a suspicion of cheating by a member in which case an Admin will kibitz. Please make sure that the tables are PRIVATE so that there is no way that another player can come in and kibitz

MIA players- Disqualifications MIA time limits- Absent player MIA time for singles is 10 minutes. After running a 10 minute timer, if the score for the PRESENT player is 3800 or more, AND the PRESENT player is ahead then remaining player my choose if a STAFF sub is to be gotten from the lobby to finish the game. Otherwise, the game is cancelled and the present player advances in the tournament. If sub wins present player still advances. MIA timers for all speed tourneys (3 hands or less) are 5 minutes. MIA time for a Doubles game that has NOT started is 10 minutes from time of pairings. After running a 10 minute timer, you are to take the first sub from the lobby. If the sub starts the game, then the sub is to play the entire game. The original player may take their seat back the next round provided their team advances. **Please Note –If a player is MIA at time of pairings you use the time of pairings to start timer. If player is present at the table and then gets booted or they have no ping, Then start time is at time the player was booted. ** MIA time for a Doubles game that is IN PROGRESS is 5 minutes. After running a 5 minute timer, you are to take the first sub from lobby. If the original player returns, inform them that they may have their seat back the next hand and they can stay at table but they are NOT to turn on kibitz. Turning on of kibitz by the player watching will result in immediate DQ of that players team. The sub is to finish the hand in progress. The sub may not stay at the table after the hand is finished. **Please Note- If Both Players on a team go MIA and they are timed out if the score is over 3800 by the team that is PRESENT at table (and remaining players choose to do so) then you get 2 staff subs to finish the game. If sub wins present player still advances. Both Players Mia If both players in a match are MIA when you announce pairings, you place them both on a 10 minute timer from pairings time. If both of the players do not return within the 10 minutes; then you advance the player that would have invited that round and DQ them in the next round as they had timed out from round 1. If both TEAMS in a doubles MATCH are MIA when pairings are announced, the same procedure used in singles is to be followed. If a player asks for you
to get a sub for them, you do not need to run a timer. The ONLY time
that a timer is run on a sub, is if they started the game. If a sub is
gotten in the middle of a game and gets booted, please get another sub
immediately. Anytime that a player subs for 1.5 or more rounds (win
or lose), you need to complete a Sub Report, found on the TD Help Page. If you need help please contact any Admin or Htd. If there is a DQ due to TD error (ex: TD spammed No Out rules but game is NTC and it wasn't caught until someone took the pile) then game is to be restarted with correct rules spammed. If the table was made incorrectly ( game calls for 1 canasta, table made for 2) and it was not caught until after the first hand is over, then the TD is to collect the total score for all hands completed and have the inviting player make an UNRATED table with the correct settings. TD is to carry scores over to the new table and game is played until a score of 5000 is reached, at which time game will be stopped and winner declared. You will need to keep track of the scores each hand on paper. The player's meld will be determined by the scores that YOU post, not the scores shown by Yahoo at the table. If there is no score when the mistake was noticed, the table has to be remade as a RATED table
The following is used to
determine meld: Any time that a game rule is broken, it is a DQ (ex: Game is No Out and a player goes out). Please make sure that you post the correct game rules at each table. This includes if a sub is gotten. It is YOUR JOB to make sure that a sub knows the game and rules for what they are playing.
Per League Rules: On some DQ's admin may make a call for game to continue if the game is close to being finished or if there is a wide margin between the scores. You cannot make this call alone (exception: admin)...all htd's and td's must call another admin/htd to table to back them up on this! If there is a dispute to the DQ an Admin (or htd if no Admin available) may be called to table to assist the TD with the call.
Booted Players There are 3 boots allowed per game. A player is Dq’d on their FOURTH boot. A boot is defined as being gone from table/lobby for longer than 1 minute. DoublesThere are 3 boots allowed per game. If a player on a team gets booted a 4th time, then the TD is to get a sub from the lobby to finish the game. There is NO mia timer used at this time. If the booted player returns, they may have their seat back in the next round if their team advances. Again, a boot is defined as being gone from the table/lobby for longer than 1 minute. Players get 3 min for brb's and 3 brb's total per game. If they are gone longer than 3 min. you put them on timer formt he time they went on brb (check ping for idle time). So if they said brb at 12 and then 3 min pass...you start timer at 12..not at 12:03. Excessive Slow Play *RULE CHANGE* If you find a player playing slow ask them if they are ok if their ping is fine ask them to speed up a bit. Considering you asked the player to speed up you should have this table in the forefront so you can watch them closely. If they are still playing slow check their time if they are taking over 45 secs to play then issue them their 1st slow play warning.
ex:(
Lisa I am giving your first slow play warning
please speed up your playing )
DOUBLES In doubles, if a team member is playing slow, after two slow play warnings, the TD gets a sub to finish not only the game but to sub for the duration of the tourney
Please note that if a staff is playing slow they also need to be issued slow play warnings, even if they are hosting and even if they are Admin. Staff who host and play need to communicate to the td and their opponents what they are doing as to avoid conflict. When you are playing and hosting let your opponent know when you are spamming tell your opponent brb I am calling pairings and taking tables.
Players may not cancel a game just because they are losing. If a player requests to cancel a game because of an emergency, please post the details on the TD board. Include such information as player’s names, score of game, what tourney, and any other information you feel that would be helpful to Admin. |
|
Doubles tournaments All staff will have the choice to host doubles as random partner or pick your own partner (PYOP). Please make sure to label all random partner doubles as such.
Anything about cards or game hands is considered table talk. Asking “out p?” is ok, but players are to limit answers to yes or no. If you see something that you KNOW is table talk then issue the player a warning. If you are UNSURE if something is table talk, please consult with a HTD or Admin before giving a warning. If the person table talks again after a warning is issued, then the team is DQ’ed. Cyep, gh, nmp, gjp, ncp (anything along these lines) is NOT considered table talk. If cards are discussed DURING the hand, it is table talk. Anything after the hand is dead is ok.
If it is brought to your attention, or you feel yourself that a team is cheating in doubles, please notify an ADMIN. You should NEVER publicly accuse anyone of cheating, nor should you discuss the issue with other TD’s. |
