Welcome to the TD Guide! ~ General Staff Rules
Customized TD Page
Would you like a customized tournament page?
Well we are now offering them to our staff. They will be made according to what you want,
and we are charging a donation fee to the league (payable via the link on the main page
of the league) for each page set. The donation part is based solely on what you want for
pages.
Here are some examples of donations that would be asked for:
Basic Page : $7 - $12
Basic Page with main page borders: $13 - $19
Main Page and Rules Page: $20 - $30
PLEASE REMEMBER: Several hours go into making each page, we are not
charging a specific amount for these, the donation amounts are set
to help out the league and go DIRECTLY TO THE LEAUGE. We can and
will work with you if you cannot do a larger amount and require a
couple of months to make it all.
What Is Expected
All staff members are volunteers! Because of this, it is
expected that if you wish to be a TD here in 4Fun you
WANT to be!
That means it is expected of you to be a fun person in the
lobby. You are expected to want to host and have fun while
hosting. It is also expected that if at anytime you do not
want to be a staff member here, simply say so to any TD Manager
and we will take you off staff. We do not force anyone to be
here, the definition of being a volunteer is someone who
expresses a desire to perform a service. Since we are all
volunteers, we expect a lot from you!
We are here to host tournaments!
We are here for the members!
We are here to enjoy ourselves!
Overall, we are here to have fun!
TD Status
"In Training" -
you will not be allowed to host until removed from this
status. Usually this status only applies to new staff members,
but it can also be applied to those staff members that require
a break.
"Active" -
this is the normal status for a staff member. When you are
on this status you are required to meet your hosting quota
(based on your level of promotion) or there is the possibility
of you being demoted or removed from staff.
"Vacation" -
you will not be allowed to host or play.
"Active-Exempt" -
you can host and play but do not have a quota to meet.
This will be allowed on a per case basis.
Only TD Managers or Admins can put a staff member on Vacation or A/E status.
TD Meetings
The TD Managers attempt to host a TD Meeting every month. When
they begin planning a meeting, they will send out an e-mail to
the TD Forum asking for any complaints, suggestions, problems, etc
that you would like clarified or brought up at the meeting. Please
respond to these e-mails so that we are able to solve any and all
problems.
When there is a TD Meeting scheduled, there are 2 times set. One
time will be a morning meeting, and one will be an evening meeting.
You are not required to attend both. You are only required to
attend one of them. If you are unable to attend either meeting,
please get with a TD Manager prior to the meeting so that they
can go over what is going to be said. These meetings are
important for all staff!!
TD Forum
Before you start any training, you need to join the TD Forum.
This forum is the main part of how we as staff communicate with
each other. When rules are changed, this is where it is posted.
So it is VERY
important to read all emails from the forum so that you know
what is going on.
Behavior ~ You Represent The League
As a staff member in 4Fun, you are a representative at
all times. Your behavior in lobby, IM's, League games and
Tournament tables is under constant watch. You should
lead members by example. If you are in the lobby cursing,
being rude, vulgar or disrespectful, you are telling our
members that this behavior is
acceptable...IT IS NOT!!!
**When you are playing, it is now
required for all staff to say GH and GG for EVERY GAME!!
Staff will be charted if they do not use Good Sportsmanship.
Repeated occurances of not using Good Sportsmanship could lead to
removal from staff.**
Please conduct yourself as a
professional at all times when in Decent Digs or handling
a league issue.
Any staff that cusses
in the lobby or at tournament tables
will be automatically boxed with no warning given.
Breaking League Rules
Staff are subject to the same set of rules and punishments
as our members. Publicly defacing or degrading the league
can result in your demotion or removal from staff in 4Fun.
Staff members that are found to be cheating in any way are
subject to immediate removal from staff with no warnings
given. Continually breaking league rules or repeated
occurrences of being boxed are also ground for removal
from staff. You may not host while in the box. If you are
boxed for any reason, you will be placed on vacation status
for the duration of your boxing.
TD Matters
Do not discuss TD matters in the lobby!! This belongs in
private IM's. If you have a problem with another staff
member, please try to work it out between yourselves. We
are all adults. If you cannot work it out between the two
of you then please go to any admin. They will try their
best to assist you. If they feel that they cannot help you,
then they will forward the issue to the appropriate admin.
If you happen to notice a TD make a mistake,
DO NOT
bring it up in the lobby. Please IM the staff member, or their
trainer if the TD is in training. We are a team first and
foremost and need to operate as a team.
Respect
There should be no degrading talk about other staff or
members in the lobby; that makes the league, and our
staff in particular, look very bad. If you have a
problem with another TD please come to one of the
TD Managers or an Admin with the problem and it will
be addressed. We as staff are held at higher levels than
just members, but we also are members and we do play
canasta. So please have respect for the TDs hosting when
you are playing.
Staff Bad Behavior
Unfortunately there are staff members that will push the
boundaries and break staff or league rules. When there is
unacceptable behavior found in a staff member, the following
steps will be taken:
For Full Admins - Warning only
You will be given 1 warning and 1 warning only.
If you do not clean up your act, the next time you will be
demoted down to HTD. Admins should know better and are
the role models everyone looks at and judges regularly.
For Jr Admins - 1 Warning, and 1 strike
You will be given a warning the first time, and a strike
the next. If you still do not clean up your act you will be
demote down to HTD. Again, the Jr. Admins should know better
and are the role models here, a little more leeway is given
here because most of the Jr. Admins are still learning.
For HTDs - 1 Warning and 3 strikes
You will be given a warning the first time, a strike the
next 3 times, and then if you still have not learned
anything...you will be demoted to TD.
For TDs - 1 Warning and 6 strikes
As a TD you are still learning and you will be given a
warning the first time and a strike the next 6 times.
After that you will be removed from staff.
If a staff member receives a strike and then shows exemplary
behavior for the next 6 months, the strike will be
removed. As well if you are promoted or demoted, your slate
will be wiped clean.
Lobby Disruptions
If you notice lobby behavior that is unacceptable,
please notify an ADMIN. If no Admins are available, then
please get a HTD. If there are no Admins or HTDs available,
please send an IM to the person. If they do not answer
your IM's, please make a table and invite them. If you
have trouble getting them to the table, then please go
to the lobby and ask that they accept your invite. Handle
the situation the best you can, do NOT get confrontational
or abusive. Please make sure that you take Screen shots
and email them along with a description of what happened
to all Admin. You can reach any Admin using their league
id@myleague.com (ex: stevesprettyangel_8@myleague.com)
Also, please leave all Admins an offline that there was
an issue in the lobby and you took care of it.
Senior Staff
As a TD in 4Fun, you will be allowed to be staff in
more than one league as long as you uphold your
commitment to 4Fun. If at anytime you become a HTD you
will be asked to NOT be on staff in ANY OTHER LEAGUE. We
want out senior staff dedicated fully to 4Fun.
Promotions Of Staff
To know what I (the HA) am looking for when promoting staff, the
detailed information is listed below:
HTD -
Looking for a TD that knows the rules of the league and
is eager to help out even more. Love of the league,
tactfulness when dealing with members, general good
sportsmanship, and of course not a staff member elsewhere.
Must complete at least 100 tournaments!
Jr. Admin -
Looking for a HTD that has the previously listed qualifications
for a HTD and that is capable of multi tasking, tactfully
talking to other staff members, loves the league, and
is overall friendly.
Full Admin -
Looking for a Jr. Admin who has really "shined" in his/her
area. Also willing to assist in more areas than just
his/her own when asked. Helpful, friendly, tactful,
multi-tasker, and can be DIPLOMATIC and OBJECTIVE /
UNBIASED when dealing with problems in the lobby.
AHA -
Looking for a Full Admin who is fully commited to the
league. If there is a need, he/she fills it without
question or back talk. Helpful without being overbearing,
a person who can learn all areas of the league without
problems. A good multi-tasker (as that is definately
needed). Ability and willingness to learn.
A good TD Trainer. A good communicator (with other folks
and overall for things such as forum information). Ability
to train other Admins in any area. Willingness to host
butt off when needed. Trust (which is a big thing),
there are a lot of areas that I need to know I can
trust on. I also need to know that when I am on a
vacation, if a problem comes up, he/she would make
the same decision I would. **Overall I want to know
that no matter what I can count on him/her**
Hosting Requirements
We require all staff to be active in 4Fun. If you are idle
from hosting for 40 days, you will be removed from the TD
team unless you have contacted a TD Manager with a valid reason.
TD's are required to host a minimum of 20 Tournaments per month
HTD's are required to host a minimum of 35 Tournaments, 1 Swiss, and 1 DE per month
Jr. Admin's are required to host a minimum of 55 Tournaments, 3 Swiss, 3 DE, and 2 preset Multi's per month
Full Admin's are required to host a minimum of 65 Tournaments, 5 Swiss, 3 DE, and 3 preset Multi's per month
The Swiss and DE and Multi's count towards the minimum number of
tournaments each month. If something happens to keep you from
hosting your minimum please contact a TD Manager and let
them know what is going on. We understand sometimes things
happen that will keep you from being able to host, but if you
do not have contact with us we may end up removing you
for inactivity.
Staff Name Changes
In order to ensure that our members recognize our staff,
name changes will only be allowed once every 6 months.
The exception to this is staff that has had a recent
promotion from TD to HTD or HTD to Admin. These staff
members will be allowed to change their name upon
promotion if they wish. However, they must then keep
that name for 6 months.
**All name changes need to be posted in TD Forum so
all staff are aware of them.**
If your name gets banned by yahoo, you are able to do
an ID change and then post in TD Forum about the change and why.
If your ID is banned for 24 hours, create an ID similar to
your league ID and you are able to play in the lobby on
your new ID without changing your league ID. THIS IS ONLY
FOR THOSE BANNED FOR 24 HOURS! To verify that you have
been banned for only 24 hours, please screenshot the
alert window when you try to enter the lobby
under the banned ID. Then send that screenshot to the TD
forum. If you are banned longer you
will need to change your league ID in order to play in any
tournaments for the duration of your banning.
Please post information in TD Forum.
General Hosting Information
Yahoo Messenger
Please have your Yahoo Messenger on and have you show
available at all times while you are hosting. We want
all staff when hosting to use the
AVAILABLE
sign and not the BUSY
sign. The exception to this is if you are training a New TD,
then you can put the BUSY
sign up. HOSTING MEANS FROM THE TIME YOU START SPAMMING
UNTIL THE TIME YOU CLOSE OUT YOUR FINAL TOURNAMENT!!!!
This makes it easier for members and other staff to find
you if they need you or need help.
Caps Lock
Try not to use caps for conversation in the lobby,
try to switch back and forth when you can. We know this
is difficult and you will not be penalized, but as a
courtesy please try to switch caps off for all
conversation not related to the tournament you are hosting.
Creating Tournaments
Tournaments can be set in the 00, 15, 30 and 45 minute
slots on the calendar. If you are going to put a tournament
on the 15/45 minute time slot and there are already
tournaments made in the half hourly or hourly;
PLEASE MAKE THESE with AT LEAST 30 minutes advance
warning for the TDs you are hosting around. You then
MUST contact the TD you have hosted around and let
them know you have put up a tournament, and also to
offer to spam their tournaments with yours. It is NOT
acceptable for them to you have hosted close to them
with your spam in the lobby and not to spam for them
as well.
When you make your tournaments, BE SURE that you set
everything before clicking on create. Make sure you set
the right number of players per team, (and the
correct number of rounds, 8 is always a sure thing) and
set your bux if you are charging them. Also be sure
you type in the tournament name in the Game Format area and
that Game Room has Decent Digs or DD in it. You can include
the link to Decent Digs as well but this is optional.
All tournaments should have the name of the tournament
clearly listed on the main tournament page as well as
in the Game Format box of your tournament. All tournament
rules must match the game type listed on main tournament
page. If these do NOT match, and it is not noticed until
after tournament is closed, then you must host the tournament
according to the game rules page NOT the main tournament
page. Please be sure when pasting the rules to your
tournament page that you use ONLY 4FUN'S RULES THAT ARE
PROVIDED ON OUR TD HELP PAGE!!! This assures that our
members are not confused when playing in our tournaments.
All games rules need to be on the Rules Page
of your tournament! We do not put our game rules on the
main page of the tournament. This is done so that our members
always know where to look.
1 Hour Rule
There are to be no same game tournaments within an hour.
This means if a King Me NT tournament is hosted at 5pm,
another cannot be hosted until 6pm.
Buddying Tournaments
Two or more tournaments that are hosted in the same time
spot on the calendar together is considered buddying.
Buddying gives our members better variety. You can buddy
any singles tournament with another singles or doubles
tournament. You can have 2 singles, 1 singles
and 1 doubles or 2 doubles in one time slot. Buddy
tournaments may be hosted by 1 TD or can be shared by 2
or more TDs. If you are sharing the same time spot with
another TD, you do not have to ask the TD if you may buddy,
however you do need to IM them and let them know that
you have buddied them and you will do the spamming. All
Tournaments marked SE are special event tournaments and may
NOT be buddied unless its another SE tournament or an invite
only tournament such as TOC. Multi tournaments also may not be
buddied. Tournaments marked TR are training tournaments and
may NOT be buddied either.
While buddying tournaments
is great, total use of each calendar slot is much better. So instead
of buddying with a tournament on the 30 minute slot, put your
tournament on the 15 or 45 minute slot. This way we are
putting the calendar to the maximum use.
Spamming Tournaments
You should be in the lobby no less than 30 minutes prior
to your tournament start time for singles or doubles
and no less than 1 hour before for multi's.
Spam no more than once every 5 minutes. Please be aware
of other TD's hosting around you and do not spam out
their pairings.
Your spam for any upcoming tournament(s) should include the
following information: Tournament name, start time,
jump number, and the league address. The entry bux is optional.
DO NOT spam your
tournament(s) on Yahoo Messenger!!
DO NOT spam your tournament until the TD before you
has closed their tournament. If it is 5 minutes
past closing time and the tournament before yours has not
closed, then you may spam for your tournament. You may
also choose to spam the tournament before yours with
yours. This allows you to start spamming right away
without upsetting the TD that is hosting before you.
On regular days (not race days), if a TD or two has
tournaments set up at say 6:30pm and 7pm, then another TD comes
along and puts one on the 645pm slot, the TD who has put the
Tournament up last (645pm) is supposed to spam for all. In
this situation, that means that you need to be in the lobby
spamming tournaments 30 mins before the first tournament you
need to spam. In the above scenario, that would mean at 6pm
you would begin spamming. The only way this would ever differ
is if other arrangements were made with the other hosting TDs.
When helping out and spamming for a few tournaments at
once, please keep in mind that we do not want to see you
get banned so know your limits and do not spam tons of
lines. By spamming several upcoming tournaments you are
possibly encouraging members to stay for a favorite
tournament or just something else they want to play.
Spamming Pairs / Table Making Timer
Each time you post pairings in lobby, you need to
include the time. Inviters have 3 minutes from that
time for singles (5 for doubles) to make their tables
and invite you. After this time has expired, you
are to have the opponent make and invite. They get
choice of seat at this time. An MIA timer is to
be started on the absent player using the time of
pairings posted in the lobby. The exception to this
is a staff member that is playing in your tournament
cannot make a table because of being at too many
tables due to hosting. In this case, you ask their
opponent to make and invite but do not sit.
Spamming Rules
You should always post GAME NAME, COMPLETE GAME RULES,
Time allotted for game and Game start time.
You are not required to post the table making information,
but you can if you wish.
DO NOT spam game rules until all players are seated!
Start Tournaments On Time
As much as we would love to see EVERY tournament close
ON TIME, it does not always happen. Singles tournaments are
to be closed NO LATER than 5 minutes after
scheduled start time. Doubles are allowed
10 minutes past time. Multi's are allowed 20 minutes past
time. There should be no reason for tournaments to be
held open later than this.
If you only need 1 more player to fill your tournament, you
may hold it open an extra 5 minutes to try to get that last
player as opposed to deleting the tournament.
Table Settings
Our tables are PRIVATE. Make sure when you accept the invite
for a tournament table that the table settings are correct with
the draw 2 cards and 1 or 2 canastas based on the game you are
hosting.
Only the TD and players should be present unless
an Admin or HTD is requested for the
table. We do NOT allow visitors. Due to the fact that
we play on private tables, KIBITZ checks should NEVER be
performed in singles. A TD should NEVER kibitz UNLESS
they are hosting Naked Nasta or another game on our
TD Help page that requires Kibitz on. Doubles will NOT
be Kibitzed unless a TD was approached with a suspicion
of cheating by a member in which case an Admin will
kibitz. Please make sure that the tables are PRIVATE so
that there is no way that another player can
come in and kibitz
Game Length / Time Limits
In order to keep things moving along, we have a time
limit on our games: 60 minutes for doubles, 45 minutes
for singles, and 15 minutes for speed-type games
(any regular game made into 2 hands or any game listed
in the Speed section of our TD Help page). As staff
you need to give warning of game time limit
approaching. Please give 10 minute warning for singles
and 15 minutes for doubles, and 5 minutes for speed. If a game
goes the full time allotted, game is to be called at
the end of the current hand being played. This means you post
at table something to the effect of "Game time is up, please
finish the hand you are playing and winner will be decided by
the scores".
Playing While Hosting
**During your first 10 tournaments, you are not
able to play and host**
You may only ever play in one tournament or league game
while hosting. When you are hosting, the members in your
tournament are the priority; not the game you are playing in.
If you feel you cannot keep up with playing and hosting,
then please use common courtesy and DO NOT play. Please note
that slow play rules apply to TD's and hosting is not
an excuse for slow play. Make sure when you are hosting
and playing that you let your opponent know when you are
taking tables.
Admins and Jr. Admins are
able to play in two games while hosting
Staff Needing a BRB
While you are hosting, if you find yourself in need of a
BRB for any reason (bathroom break, smoke break, kids need
food, etc.), if you have 5 or less tables, please post BRB
at all your tables as well as BRB ALL MY TABLES in the lobby.
If you have more than 5 tables, please post BRB ALL MY
TABLES in the lobby. You do not need to post it all your
tables.
While you are on BRB, a member may put a timer on an opponent
(or team member in doubles) that may have gone MIA. When you
get back to the table, put a timer on the player if necessary.
Maximum Tournaments
We ask that you only host what you know you are
capable of hosting without holding up or causing
any delays in your tournaments. Please remember if you
are hosting in prime time you have the potential for
larger tournaments and this should be considered when you
are making your tournaments. If you over extend yourself
then the Quality of your Tournaments will suffer and
Quality is Important. If a TD Manager finds you
are hosting more then you are capable of, steps may
be taken and we may end up limiting your hosting.
Deleting/Moving Tournaments
If you cannot host your tournament and you have more
than an hour until start time, CLOSE REGISTRATION and then
move your tournament to the next year. If you cannot host
your tournament and it is to start in less than one hour,
then please contact an Admin or HTD so that they may make
arrangements to have your tournament covered.
If you have spammed your tournament and still do not
have enough players to close after the allotted grace period
(5 mins past for singles, 10 mins for doubles, 20 mins for
multi's) then please DELETE the tournament and under
REASON put the NAME OF GAME and the NUMBER OF
PLAYERS REGISTERED.
Per Cases Rules: If there is an issue with your tournament,
such as the LadderBux or Ladderstats settings being
created incorrectly, or if you simply do not have
enough players to start the tournament, it is
best to delete the tournament instead of moving it.
Moving a tournament can occasionally cause our
security software to register a false positive
and stop a tournament from running. This is why we
recommend deleting tournaments, rather than moving them.
Variety On Calendar
In 4Fun we have skill and non-skill players. It is our
job as TD's to do our best to please both. This means
having a variety of skill tournaments and non-skill
tournaments. All staff should do their best to host
both skill and non-skill tournaments. We know at times
that it may be harder to fill a skill tournament and it
may take a little more effort to get it going, but it is
better to make an effort than no effort at all. For example,
if you are hosting a NT/NTC tournament at 8:30pm,
throw up a skill tournament at 8:45pm. This utilizes the calendar
and provides a good variety.
Teamwork
As a member of the hosting staff, sometimes things
happen, and either you or a fellow TD will struggle.
If this happens, please ask for help from another
TD or help out your fellow TD. We are a team, we are
here to help each other and make things fun for the
members of this league!
Since we are a team, it is acceptable to help out your
teammates by spamming the upcoming tournaments for awhile
while they host. In doing this please know your limits on
the lines you can spam. We do not want to see folks getting
banned over this. It is acceptable to spam the next 3-4
tournaments or more based on what you are able to spam.
While doing this please be sure to keep in contact with
the hosting TDs so that they know you are spamming.
Speed Type Tournaments
Speed Type Tournaments are either the games listed as Speed
tournaments on the TD Help Page or 2-handed tournaments.
No hosting 2 speed-type tournaments in a row, either on the
calendar or as a TD. You must host a full type tournament
between hosting two speed-type tournaments. We want
variety on the calendar as well as from each staff
member when hosting.
**There are to be no Speed Type Tournaments on Race Day.**
If you are changing a regular
tournament into a 2-handed game you need to make sure
you mark the tournament as a 2 hand tournament.
Ex: ***SAFE SEX NTC~2-HANDED*** as well you need to
add this to your rules
This is a 2 handed game. 15 min time limit and the player
with the highest score after the 2 hands or the time
expires wins. 5 min MIA timer.
Doubles Tournaments
PYOP Partners -
On everyday that is not race day you are to make your
doubles tournaments as pick your own partner (PYOP). In order
to create a doubles tournament, you have change the "Number of
Players per Team" to 2 instead of the default 1. The
"Teams Competing per match" always stays at 2!
Random Partners -
On Race Days you are to make your doubles tournaments
as Random Partners. First step is to change the "Number of
Players per Team" to 2 instead of the default 1.
Then, to make your doubles "Random Partners" you must
check the little box that says "Random Team Partners?"
that is located right underneath "Teams Competing per match"
on your Tournament Setup Center page. The
"Teams Competing per match" always stays at 2!
Table talk -
Anything about cards or game hands is considered table
talk. Asking “out p?” is ok, but players are to limit
answers to yes or no.
Asking a question about
the game rules is NOT considered table talk and SHOULD
be answered by you the hosting TD.
If you see something that you
KNOW is table talk then issue the player a warning.
If you are UNSURE if something is table talk, please
consult with a HTD or Admin before giving a warning.
If the person table talks again after a warning is
issued, then the team is DQ'd. Cyep, gh, nmp, gjp,
ncp (anything along these lines) is NOT considered table
talk. If cards are discussed DURING the hand, it is
table talk. Anything after the hand is dead is ok.
Cheating -
If it is brought to your attention, or you feel
yourself that a team is cheating in doubles, please
notify an ADMIN. You should NEVER publicly accuse
anyone of cheating, nor should you discuss the issue
with other TD's.
Same Household
Any two or more people who live in the same house
or share the same IP address will be considered same
household. Same household members will not be allowed
to participate in League Games together in any way
(doubles as partners or opponents nor singles games),
as they are not allowed to report losses to each other.
In Tournaments, Same Household members are not allowed
to partner each other, if same household members join a
random partner tournament and are partnered together a
sub will be acquired for one of them. They will be allowed
to play against each other in singles tournaments or in
doubles tournaments as the TD reports the matches. They
may not play as subs against or for one another in League
or Tournament games.
As staff if you are on the Same Household list with someone
and they join a tournament of yours, you will need to find
another staff member to watch that table because if there is
a problem it could become a conflict of interest.
**Exceptions to same household partnering;
Married to It Doubles, Tag Team Doubles
(played as singles), Musical Chairs and multi
tournaments Ex: 2x2 (two players, both play single games)
3x3, 4x4 (not as partners in doubles portion).
MIAs / Disqualifications / Issues
Staff SOS
If you find yourself needing to leave the lobby and there are
no other staff members available to host, send out an SOS for
more staff. Send out a mass IM to all staff members in Yahoo
messenger saying "Need staff in lobby to help host please!" or
just "SOS NEED STAFF". Then post to the TD Forum the same thing
including the current time. Do NOT feel bad about having to
leave if you NEED to leave. We all have personal lives and those
do need to come first.
Hosting Problems With Staff
If there is a problem with a staff member doing something wrong
regarding hosting or not following rules, and it does not have an
effect on the current tournaments being hosted, please
contact his/her trainer to resolve the problem. Do not take it
upon yourself to correct the staff member. If the problem
DOES have an effect on the current tournaments being hosted
then contact the staff member in IM and TACTFULLY inform them
of the problem. Then be sure to send an email to their trainer
to inform them of what the problem was, what was said, and if
it was fixed.
New Servers
Occasionally Yahoo refreshes their servers. When this happens
you receive an alert that a new server has been started.
If you are hosting, you immediately need to go to
the new server while remaining in the old server. You can use
your SAME ID to be in both servers. You finish up the current
tables in the old server and then move all tournaments to the
new server.
ALL NEW GAMES WILL START
IN THE NEW SERVER!!
If there is a booted player from the old server, player
is put on timer in the new server, the game is cancelled in
the old server, scores from all hands played are taken to the
new server and game will continue on an unrated table if the
booted player returns.
When a server change occurs, MIA timers can be extended an
extra 5 minutes.
Moving Lobby
There are only two occasions in which 4Fun would not be
playing in Decent Digs. The first would be if there was
terrible lag in Digs and everyone was having problems getting
into the lobby or even playing a game. This does not happen
often and it must be severe and not just a few minutes. The
other time would be if Digs is being botted. We have been
bot free for quite some time and we are hoping to stay that way,
but in the event that it happens this is how it works.
The highest ranking staff member makes the decision to move.
This means first it would be an Admin, if no Admin is available,
then a HTD, if no HTD is available, then TDs need to get in a
conference together and make the decision to move TOGETHER! If
there is indeed a decision made to move, then a staff
member would go to an international lobby looking for
an empty lobby to play in. Then move all members there as
discreetly as possible. Use messenger or invite folks to tables
to inform them of the new lobby. One staff member should stay
behind in Digs to make sure any new members coming in get to
where we are playing. A staff member should also post to
the TD Forum about the move, why, and where we are now. Below are
two links for International Lobbies. On the second link, scroll down
for the International Lobbies.
International Backdoors Link 1
International Backdoors Link 2
Below is the link for the room listings for canasta. DO NOT go
into a room that has a league listed there. Also be sure that
when going into a room that there is not a league there. Not
all leagues are listed here, only those that have established
room rights.
Canasta Room Rights
As soon as possible, please make the move back to Digs. When
the move back is done, be sure to re-post in the TD forum so
that staff knows.
When a lobby change occurs, MIA timers can be extended an
extra 5 minutes.
Timers
If a player is MIA after pairs have been posted in the lobby,
timer starts at the time you posted pairs. If a player is booted
during a game, timer starts at the time of the boot. If a
player says BRB at 12:00 and is still gone at 12:03, timer starts
at 12:00. If a player is idle, without saying BRB on table, subtract
idle time from current time for timer. Example: Current time 12:04, idle
time is 2 mins, timer starts at 12:02.
If you put a person on a timer, you need to post it at the table
and in the lobby. When you take a person off timer, you post it
at the table and in the lobby. At the table you then post how
much time they have used and how much they have left. For
example: TIMER ON SUE 12:05, TIMER OFF SUE 12:09, TIME USED
4 MINS, 6 MINS LEFT ON TIMER.
If you player you have previously put on timer requires another
timer during the same GAME (not tournament), then you add the
MIA times together. For example: TIMER ON SUE 12:05, TIMER
OFF SUE 12:09, TIME USED 4 MINS, 6 MINS LEFT ON TIMER. TIMER
ON SUE 12:20, TIMER OFF SUE 12:22, TOTAL TIME USED 6 MINS, 4
MINS LEFT ON TIMER.
When a player times out you need to put the time you started them
on timer as well as the time that they timed out in the lobby.
EX: SO SORRY BOB YOU HAVE TIMED OUT 6:45-6:55
When there is terrible lag, server change, or a lobby move,
MIA timers can be extended an extra 5 minutes.
MIAs - Singles
MIA time for singles is 10 minutes. After running a
10 minute timer, if the score for the REMAINING player
is 3800 or more, AND the REMAINING player is ahead then
they may choose to cancel or continue with a STAFF sub.
If the remaining player chooses to continue with a staff sub,
the remaining player advances to the next round in the
tournament regardless of the outcome of the game.
If both players in a match are MIA when you announce
pairings, you place them both on a 10 minute timer
from pairings time. If both of the players do not
return within the 10 minutes; then you advance the
player that would have invited that round and DQ them
in the next round as they had timed out from round 1.
If a player goes MIA and the game time is up before their MIA
timer is up, the game is called and win goes to the
remaining player.
MIAs - Speed
MIA timers for all speed tournaments are 5 minutes.
MIAs - Doubles (Not Started)
MIA time for a Doubles game that has NOT started is
10 minutes from time of pairings. After running a 10
minute timer, you are to take the first sub from the
lobby. If the sub starts the game, then the sub is to
play the entire game. The original player may take
their seat back the next round provided their team advances.
If both teams in a match are MIA when you announce
pairings, you place them both on a 10 minute timer
from pairings time. If none of the team members
return within the 10 minutes; then you advance the
team that would have invited that round and DQ them
in the next round as they had timed out from round 1.
**Please Note** – If a player is MIA at time of
pairings you use the time of pairings to start
timer. If player is present at the table and then
gets booted or they have no ping, then start time
is at time the player was booted. **
MIAs - Doubles (Started)
MIA time for a Doubles game that is IN PROGRESS is
5 minutes. After running a 5 minute timer, you are
to take the first sub from lobby. If the original
player returns, inform them that they may have their
seat back the next hand and they can stay at table but
they are NOT to turn on kibitz. Turning on of kibitz
by the player watching will result in immediate DQ of
that players team. The sub is to finish the hand in
progress. The sub may not stay at the table after the
hand is finished.
If the TD cannot find a sub in the lobby after 3 mins
of asking, then the TD will sit and finish out the hand
regardless if the TD is already playing in a tournament
(if TD is playing on that table, they must still search
for a sub from the lobby).
**Please Note** - If Both Players on a team go MIA and
they are timed out if the score is over 3800 by the
team that is PRESENT at table (and remaining players
choose to do so) then you get 2 staff subs to finish
the game. If subs wins present players still advances.
If a team goes MIA and the game time is up before their MIA
timer is up, the game is called and win goes to the
remaining team.
Subs
If a player asks for you to get a sub for them, you do
not need to run a timer. The ONLY time that a timer is
run on a sub, is if they started the game. If a sub is
acquired in the middle of a game and gets booted, please
get another sub immediately.
***Please Note*** - When a player has a sub and original
player gets booted leaving only the sub at table they
get a full 10 minute timer before the team is timed
out and DQ'd. As long as there is 1 original player
to a team the game goes on. This means if player 1 has
a sub for player 2...player 1 gets booted but player 2
comes back then player 2 can take player 1s seat as
they are an original player.
Sub Reports -
Anytime that a player subs 1.5 rounds or more
of a tournament and wins at least 1 of the rounds, complete
a Sub Report found on the TD Help Page. If a
sub does not win any rounds (such as in a swiss) it is
not necessary to fill out a sub report as no credit is
given to the sub.
BRB's
Players get 3 min for BRB's and 3 BRB's total per
game. The fourth BRB will be an automatic DQ.
If they are gone longer than 3 minutes, you put
them on timer from the time they went on BRB (check
ping for idle time). So if they said BRB at 12 and
then 3 minutes pass...you start timer at 12..not at 12:03.
Boots - Singles
There are 3 boots allowed per game. A player is
DQ'd on their FOURTH boot. A boot is defined as
being gone from table/lobby for longer than 1 minute.
Boots - Doubles
There are 3 boots allowed per game. If a player
on a team gets booted a 4th time, then the TD is
to get a sub from the lobby to finish the game.
There is NO MIA timer used at this time. If the
booted player returns, they may have their seat
back in the next round if their team advances. Again,
a boot is defined as being gone from the table/lobby
for longer than 1 minute.
Yahoo FF's
Occasionally when a player is booted, Yahoo will FF
the game. This generally only happens in singles games,
and when it does place the booted player on timer, if they
make it back, you will need to get the scores from all
hands completed and continue the game on an UNRATED table.
At the UNRATED table, you as the hosting TD need to post
the players scores and the melds they are required to meet
according to the scores from the previous table.
After each hand is completed, repost scores and
necessary melds. IF a player does not meld according to
what you post they then DQ.
No Restarts
If there is a DQ due to TD error (ex: TD spammed No Out
rules but game is NTC and it wasn't caught until someone
took the pile) then game is to be restarted with correct
rules spammed. If the table was made incorrectly ( game
calls for 1 canasta, table made for 2) and it was not
caught until after the first hand is over, then the TD
is to get the scores from all hands completed and
continue the game on an UNRATED table.
At the UNRATED table, you as the hosting TD need to post
the players scores and the melds they are required to meet
according to the scores from the previous table.
After each hand is completed, repost scores and
necessary melds. IF a player does not meld according to
what you post they then DQ. If there is no score when the
mistake was noticed, the table has to be remade as
a RATED table.
Melds For Games - For Unrated Tables
<0 = 15 Meld
0 - 1495 = 50 Meld
1500 - 2995 = 90 Meld
3000 - 4995 = 120 Meld
Disqualifications
Any time that a game rule is broken, it is a DQ
(ex: Game is No Out and a player goes out). Please
make sure that you post the correct game rules at each
table. This includes if a sub is acquired. It is YOUR
JOB to make sure that a sub knows the game and rules for
what they are playing.
The 3800 rule can also come into effect. On some DQ's staff
may make a call for game to continue; if the game is
close to being finished or if there is a wide margin
between the scores. If there is a dispute to the DQ an
Admin (or HTD if no Admin available) may be called to
table to assist the TD.
Slow Play - Singles
If you find a player playing slow check their ping, if it
is fine ask them to speed up a bit.
**Please note bad ping is
not considered slow play.**
Considering you asked
the player to speed up you should have this table in the
forefront so you can watch them closely. If they are
taking over 45 seconds to play, then issue them their 1st
slow play warning.
Ex:( Lisa I am giving your first slow play warning please
speed up your playing )
If they continue to play slow then you issue them their
2nd and last slow play warning.
Ex: ( Lisa I am giving you your SECOND slow play warning
if you continue to play slow I will have to DQ you from
the game, so please play faster)
If the player still is playing slow then you call game
and have it canceled. If you feel that a player was
deliberately playing slow to be DQ'd because they were
losing then please contact an Admin to come to table.
If there is no Admin available take screen shots of this
and send to the Admins and we will take care of this.
Also it is always best to screen shot your Slow play
warnings in case of a dispute.
Please note that if a staff is playing slow they also
need to be issued slow play warnings, even if they
are hosting and even if they are Admin. Staff who host
and play need to communicate to the TD and their
opponents what they are doing as to avoid conflict.
When you are playing and hosting let your opponent
know when you are spamming, tell your opponent BRB I am
posting pairings.
Slow Play - Doubles
In doubles, if a team member is playing slow, after
two slow play warnings, the TD gets a sub to finish
not only the game but to sub for the duration of the tournament
**Please note bad ping is
not considered slow play.**
Canceling Games
If a player wants a game cancelled for a purpose OTHER
than they are losing badly, it can be granted at TD's
discretion on a per case basis.
If a member wishes to cancel a game because they are losing
badly, it is NOT allowed. HOWEVER, if a player wishes for the
game to be over, you can give permission for the player to
FORFEIT ON THEMSELF. This means they need to hit "Stand Up" and
"Quit and Forfeit" NOT "Quit and Cancel". This will give the
win and Yahoo rating points to the opposing player.
PLEASE NOTE: The hosting TD MUST say it is okay
to give the win. If the TD does not OK this, then the player
needs to be reported and will be boxed for 1 day. If this
turns out to be a repeatitive problem, the Admins reserve the
right to box for longer (10 days - 30 days).
Giving Wins
If a member requests to give win in a tournament, and the
game has not started, there is no need to run a timer, simply
advance the other player.
Tournament Issues
Members In 3 Tournaments -
As per league rules members are only allowed to play in
2 games (league and/or tournaments) at a time. A TD is not
allowed to put a member on a timer due to them being in
too many games at one time. If it is brought to your
attention that a member is in more then 2 games, please
contact all the staff members involved. At that time one staff
member will DQ the member from one of the games based on the
following critera:
1. If games are all 3 singles, then DQ from most recent
started singles.
2. If games are 2 singles, 1 dbls, then DQ from most
recent singles started.
3. If games are 2 doubles and 1 singles, then DQ from
the one singles.
4. If all 3 games are doubles, then get a sub for that player
for the most recent doubles started
(NOTE: If the doubles happens to be a league game that
they are DQ'd from then the DQ'd player is to report a
loss to both opponents.)
Please then send in all information regarding this via the
link below.
Poor Sportsmanship -
Although we do not "require" players to say gh, gg, gl, etc.
we do have a league rule on sportsmanship that players
need to follow. If you as staff feel that a player is
showing poor sportsmanship, please take screen shots and
send in all pertinent information via the link below.
Insinuations Of Cheating -
It is against 4Fun league rules for players to make
accusations of cheating...whether directly or just by
insinuating. Any time a player accuses another player
of cheating it must be screen shot and sent in with all
pertinent information via the link below.
Disqualifying On Purpose -
Any time a player is suspected of DQ'ing on purpose,
screen shots need to be taken and all pertinent information sent
in via the link below.

Special Days And Times In 4Fun
Doubles Time Slot
Doubles tournaments can be hosted at anytime during the day.
The 10pm slot is a guaranteed doubles spot. This means that
a doubles has to be hosted in this slot. You can buddy the
doubles with a singles tournament, but there has to be a
doubles tournament there.
Midnight to 12pm
From midnight to 12pm all the tournaments close as soon as
they are full. This means singles close with 4, doubles close
with 8. The doubles tournaments do not have to be random
partner. You can keep these tournaments open until they
fill.
If you wish to host a full
tournament, label it as "ALL IN". However this means you
cannot hold it open longer than the regular hosting rules
state with 5 minutes after start for singles and 10
minutes after start for doubles.
All "Preset" SE Tournaments are to be run as "ALL IN". If an
SE Tournament is not a preset tournament it can be run as a
"Close with 4" or an "All In" based on TD discretion.
Race Day
Race Days are Tuesdays and Saturdays. On these days
all singles tournaments close with 4 and doubles tournaments
close with 8. The doubles tournaments are all random partner
tournaments.
When making a request, please type "Making HITS" or "Got KING
ME" or something similar so that the other staff that are in
the lobby see that you are making the request. This will prevent
duplicate tournaments. If you already have several tournaments
open, please give other staff a chance to take a request or two
before making more requests. The more we spread out the
tournaments between us, the better quality of tournaments the
members get.
Because race day is such a busy day with lots of tournaments
running and pairings coming out a lot, spams on race day should
be kept as small as possible. If, for example, you are only
running one or two tournaments your spam should only be 1 line.
Your spam should NEVER exceed 3 lines on race day and 3 lines
would only apply if you are spamming 3 or more tournaments.
At the very beginning of any Race Day it is always nice to see
a couple tournaments already in place and ready to go soon as midnight
hits. It is now being limited to only 2 TOURNAMENTS PER STAFF MEMBER
can be set before midnight. Soon as midnight hits you are more than welcome
to take requests or make additional tournaments, but having only 2 per staff
member ensures that all staff can participate.
Be courteous to fellow staff in the lobby on race day, if
there are a large amount of open tournaments on the calendar
do not put up any more requests until a few tournaments have
filled. USE YOUR HEAD!
It is okay to have a list of requests waiting to be made.
If you ask for a request in the lobby and do not receive an
answer after several minutes (wait at least 5 minutes) feel
free to go ahead and make a tournament of your choice. Members
often check the calendar to see if there are tournaments open
before deciding to come in and a full calendar LOOKS GOOD!
No Doubles can be made after 11:30 pm on Race Days
No Singles Race Day tournaments can be made after 11:50pm
on Race Days.
All Race Day tournaments MUST
be running by 11:59pm on Race Day!!
Wacky Wednesday
Wednesdays are WACKY! On Wednesdays we host close with 4
tournaments in between our normal tournaments. When they
are put on the calendar they are to go in a 15 or 45 min slot.
All the Wacky Wednesday tournaments are to be labeled WW CLOSE/4
so that members know these close with 4.
These are only to be singles tournaments, no doubles.
These run when they are filled, but no more than 2 WW
tournaments in a 30 minute time frame. You may also keep
these tournaments open until they fill.
If you are putting up WW tournaments, it is your duty to spam
all tournaments that you are hosting around.
With the WW tournaments you do not have to make these
with at least 30 minutes advance warning for the TDs you are
hosting around. Just remember to keep it to only two Wacky
Wednesday touranments in a 30 minute period.
HTD Information
Hosting For An MIA TD
If an HTD finishes hosting finals of tournament and
the MIA staff is not around, they are to close the
tournament out, so that the members can get their bux and
stats. The original staff member forfeits the small
hosting bux due to being MIA and the HTD will get
them by closing the tournament. An HTD should only send
in a Covered Tournament Report if they hosted at least
half of the tournament. The original TD maintains the
credit if they ran majority of it. Covered tournaments
are automatically sent to a TD Manager using the link
provided. Each month the TD Manager assigned to tracking
covered tournaments adjusts staff stats to reflect
any covered tournaments.
Covering SE Tournaments
Any HTD can cover an SE Tournament if there is no SE HTD or
Admin around. The only thing that you as a HTD need to be
aware of is the rules of the tournament. If you do not
understand the rules of the game, do not host it.
Opening Tournaments
If you login to your HTD area and click on Administer
Tournaments, you will see tournaments that have a status of
"Registration". Normally it is not a problem to click on these
tournaments and "Open Check-In", and doing this will help out a
TD, IF there are tournaments
preset on Race Day, DO NOT open these.
Usually these are Special Events tournaments or occasionally a
Training tournament and these tournaments are only to be
opened near the time that they are set to run. The reason for
this is that a tournament may be set for 9pm and if it is
Open for Check-In, folks might try to join it at 9am and
then get mad when it is not run.
