MULTIPLE TOURNEYS

There are a variety of ways to host a multiplayer tourney. You can host a 2x2 (each player plays single games), a 3x3 or a 4x4. In the 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 tourneys the scores from each game are added together for each team and the team with the highest score is advanced each round. *PLEASE NOTE* Once a TD is Trained in Multis they can also host a Swiss Multi 2x2 or 3x3 or a DE Multi 2x2 or 3x3. If you wish to host something other than what is listed here please contact a Admin for special permission. You have to get permission to host a 5x5 PRIOR to making it from a TD Manager. When hosting a 4x4 you must have a doubles as one of your games. You can have two singles and one doubles, or both games played can be doubles. We also ask that at least one of the games in your multi has to be a skill game.

Hosting a multiple tourney

You may host a multiple tourney any time on the calendar EXCEPT between the hours of 8:00pm and 10:00pm. If a multiple tourney is held in a doubles time spot, 12am, 3am, 5am, 7am, 9am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm or 10pm, it must contain a doubles game. If there is a doubles in your Multi Tourney it must be hosted in a doubles time spot. When making your multiples please be courteous to the other td's and tourney's around it. We ask that multiple tourney's not be hosted in both the 8pm and 10pm doubles time spots. Ex. If there is a Multi at 8:00PM you can NOT make one at 10:00PM. As well multis are not to be Buddied. So please keep this in mind when making a multi as to your game types and What our members are used to playing at certain times.

We allow teams to have subs in 2x2s, 3x3s, 4x4s and tag team tourneys. You can ask the team that has an MIA player if another player on their team would like to sub. *PLEASE NOTE* - this player should not be in another tourney or league game as players are only allowed to play in 2 games at one time and considering they would be playing their part in the multi as well as subbing for one of their MIA team members that is their limit of allowable games. If the remaining players in the team do not wish to sub for their MIA or if they can't because they are already playing 2 then the td asks for a sub in the lobby. This also applies to 2x2 singles, where they sign up as a doubles team but the games are played as singles games. If you are hosting a 3x3 or 4x4 with a doubles game and both of the doubles players are MIA you are allowed to get 2 subs for that team. Our rule is that one original player from the team must be present. Since this is a 3x3 or 4x4 team, if two are missing that means that one original player is present, they just happen to be playing a different game then the two that are MIA from the doubles. The sub timers are the same as regular doubles timers.

- When chosing your games to be hosted Remember you CANNOT chose any game in which there is an auto win, {ex. in PTC NTC a red 8 is an auto win, so the score is not from the complete game} these type games conflict with the scoring in a multi.

You need to be in the lobby 1 hour prior to your multiple tourney. You are not to spam your multiple tourney until the tourney before yours is closed but you may spam a team making table spam 1 hour before your tourney in the lobby. Please keep your team making spam to 1 line. So you may spam something like this "4x4 team making table at table 21".

If you need help with tables, please get a staff member who is not playing in your multiple tourney. If you need to use someone who happens to be in your tourney they can only watch singles tables Only you should be watching the doubles tables.

You may not call next round pairings in a multi as this can cause potential problems in your multi.

( YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACK UP WHEN HOSTING A MULTI PRIOR TO 1 HR BEFORE YOUR TOURNEY IS TO START)

While hosting a multiple tourney you may NOT host or play 1 hour before the tourney is due to start. The reason for this is because, it takes time to get teams in the multiple and then you have to hand type your pairings, get tables started, run timers if needed and then get subs. If your playing in another tourney or league game or hosting another tourney this could cause some problems.

If a player/team DQ's in a multi-player tourney you are to score 0 in that game for the team that DQ's and 5000 in that game for the other team. If we were to score 0 for each team in that game then we open the door for a team member to knowingly DQ if they know the rest of their team has won their games. There would be no reason for them to risk losing big and then their team losing, they would simply DQ thus guaranteeing the win. We have looked at all possible scenarios for the DQ score keeping, and this is the best we have come up with. If you want to discuss this further please contact cakeeeeee, and Reed.Tardicus. If a player breaks a league rule (ex: table talking during doubles) during a multiple tourney, that game is dq'ed (0-5000) and a sub is gotten for that player for the following round if their team advances.

When you have a sub that plays in 2 rounds or more, you need to complete the Tourney Sub Report form so that the player's record can be corrected.

( PLEASE DO NOT ANNOUNCE SCORES IN THE LOBBY IF A TEAM WISHES TO KNOW THE SCORES THEY CAN MESSAGE YOU. REASON FOR THIS AS SOME SCORES ARE FAR FROM BEING CLOSE AND CAN BE EMBARRASSING FOR SOME MEMBERS)

YOUR TOURNEY PAGE

These rules MUST be on your tourney page I have made it easy for you so you can just copy paste them on your tourney page.

This goes in your tournament lay out in the big box.( you can change the color to suit your tourney page ex: delete “white” and put “black”)

***NO MORE TEAMS ARE TO BE MADE AT SCHEDULED CLOSING TIME. THE TOURNEYWILL CLOSE NO LATER THEN 10 MIN AFTER EVEN IF TEAMS HAVE TO BE DROPPED. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN IN ON AUTO COME INTO DD AND FIND TOURNEY MAKING TABLE AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET YOU ON A TEAM!!!!***

You should also have it clearly on the main page what games are being played.
Example on Top of your page. Reed's 3x3 8s and Sex Doubles P
YOP

Please note a lot of tds put these rules in their tourney message box but a lot of members do not scroll down far enough to notice there is a tourney message. So If you have the rules Right above the Register button They can plainly see them and cannot dispute the fact that “they didn’t see them”.

This goes on your rules page( you of course change the game types and numbers so they match your tourney games and tourney type)

***THIS TOURNEY IS A MULTI PLAYER TOURNEY PLAYERS 1 PLAYS SOB AND PLAYERS 2 AND 3 PLAY SOB DOUBLES I'LL ADD THE SCORES OF ALL GAMES AND TEAM WITH HIGHEST SCORE ADVANCES ***

***IF A PLAYER DQ'S IN THIS TOURNEY THEY WILL RECEIVE 0 POINTS FOR THEIR TEAM AND THEIR OPPONENTS WILL RECEIVE 5000 POINTS FOR THEIR TEAM***

***AS LONG AS THERE IS 1 ORIGINAL PLAYER IN A TEAM SUBS WILL BE GOTTEN EVEN FOR SINGLES GAMES***

***MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO SUB FOR A MIA PLAYER ON THEIR TEAM PROVIDING THEY ARE NOT PLAYING IN ANY OTHER TOURNEY OR NON-LEAGUE/LEAGUE GAME IF NONE OF THE PLAYERS ARE AVAILABLE TO SUB FOR THEIR MIA TEAM PLAYER THEN A SUB WILL BE GOTTEN FROM THE LOBBY***

***IN THE EVENT OF 2 TEAMS HAVING A TIE SCORE THE TD WILL HAVE THE PLAYERS FROM THE 1ST GAME OF THEIR TOURNEY PLAY 2 HANDS OF THAT GAME FOR A TIE BREAKER. IF AFTER THE 2 HANDS THE SCORE IS STILL TIED ANOTHER HAND WILL BE PLAYED TILL THE TIE IS BROKEN***

If you make this multi a swiss or de you should also point out in the top line what type of multi it is . So the members clearly understand this. For DE I would put this :

***THIS TOURNEY IS A DE MULTI PLAYER TOURNEY PLAYERS 1 PLAYS SOB AND PLAYERS 2 AND 3 PLAY SOB DOUBLES I ADD THE SCORES OF ALL GAMES AND TEAM WITH HIGHEST SCORE ADVANCES : REMEMBER THIS TOURNEY IS A DE YOU NEED TO LOSE 2 TIMES BEFORE TEAM IS OUT OF TOURNEY***

For SWISS I would put this:

***THIS TOURNEY IS A MULTI PLAYER SWISS TOURNEY PLAYERS 1 PLAYS SOB AND PLAYERS 2 AND 3 PLAY SOB DOUBLES I ADD THE SCORES OF ALL GAMES AND TEAM WITH HIGHEST SCORE ADVANCES REMEMBER THIS IS A 4 ROUND TRUE SWISS YOUR TEAM CAN PLAY ALL ROUNDS***

UNDERNEATH THESE RULES ^^^ IS YOUR GAMES RULES( again you would change the rules for the game that you will be hosting) As well save the league rules for the bottom of the page as this makes it easier for the members viewing.

PLAYER 1 PLAYS***SEX ON THE BEACH***

MAKE ALL TABLES DRAW 2 CARDS, 2 CANASTA'S, RATED, PRIVATE. You can have as many canasta’s as you want of any color! HOWEVER BEFORE MAKING ANY NASTAS, YOU MUST MELD BOTH 6'S AND 9'S. YOU MAY USE WILDS AND MELD AT ANY TIME, JUST NO NASTAS TIL THE 6'S AND 9'S ARE MELD. You may also meld your 6's and/or 9's at the same time as making your canasta's, they just have to hit the table at the same time.

PLAYERS 2 AND 3 PLAY ***NO TOUCH CUT DOUBLES***

MAKE ALL TABLES DRAW 2 CARDS, 1 CANASTA, RATED, PRIVATE. Players are not allowed to pick up the discard deck at all but you may go out at any time. KIBITZ OFF at all times, every game. 5 minute timer for sub if game in progress. Absolutely no table talking, only yes or no answer when asked if a person may go out. No public (that means at table or in lobby) accusations of cheating, IM the TD if you suspect cheating.

AFTER THESE RULES YOU PUT THE REGULAR LEAGUE RULES.

TEAM MAKING TABLE

You need to make a team making table 1 hr prior to your tourney. You can make this table before 1 hr to get a head start but please be considerate of the other tds who are spamming their tourneys and trying to get players in. You can get a star member to make a special table for you. This helps. Have paper and pen handy. We make teams first come first serve we do not condone players coming to the team making table and stacking their team.

For this training we are going to make a 4x4..8s sex and ntc doubles.

on paper you should have 8s sex and ntc doubles…1st player that comes into room you ask them what they want ..they say sex..so you put their name under sex. Next player wants ntc..you put them on that same team. Another player comes in and wants sex so you put them on another team below first team. You always fill the first team first.

PAIRINGS SPAMS

You should have your spams ready before you go to team making table as it gets very busy. We are going to still refer to the 4x4 8s sex and ntc.

In box A you should have your tourney spam

In box B you would have 8's

In box C you would have Sex

In box D you would have NTC Doubles

Remember you are only allowed to spam 3 lines in lobby)

BOX E F AND G WOULD BE FOR YOUR RULES.

PAIRINGS

Ok we do pairings by players name it is best if you have excel so after you close and start your tourney you can copy paste teams and players into excel. If you do not have excel you can open your tourney page (where the players join) and go to the teams page and copy paste teams from there.

An easy way to do this is to copy all your spams from your spam boxes into a Word or Notepad file. While in Word or Notepad you are able to see all the spams and it will make it easier for you to get the correct players in the correct areas.

STEP 1 You would go to your first pairing and put the players in your spam like this.

TABLES FOR CRAZY 8S PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

mrs loco cher tigeri capt

TABLES FOR SEX PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

TABLES FOR NTC DOUBLES PLEASE MAKE 421 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

STEP 2 Then you would move your players down to their spots and put vs beside their names it should look like this.

TABLES FOR CRAZY 8S PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

mrs loco vs

TABLES FOR SEX PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

cher vs

TABLES FOR NTC DOUBLES PLEASE MAKE 421 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

STEP 3 Now you would put the opponents in like this.

TABLES FOR CRAZY 8S PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

mrs loco vs teeeeee t_rooney lixxxxnu dee_luvs

TABLES FOR SEX PLEASE MAKE 222 RATED PRIVATE AND INVITE ME

cher vs

AND MOVE THE PLAYERS DOWN SO THIS IS YOUR FIRST PAIRINGS.

Now that your spams are all set up, you can just copy and paste em back into your boxes and spam away. When the round is complete, all you do is go through and remove the teams that lost.
In the case of a Double Elim or Swiss, it might be a good Idea to have a list of who is playing what and the team they are on so that later rounds are easier to set up.

WE HOPE THIS GUIDE IS UNDERSTANDABLE AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SOME FEEDBACK. THANKS.
