Welcome to Lucky's Haven TD Training Center

Everything you need to know about hosting but were afraid to ask!

Lucky’s Haven – Hosting Tours

  1. As stated above, when hosting tourney, we ask that you be in the room 30 mins prior to the start of your tour. Please have your yahoo messenger on and ready. Advertise our league about every 15 min and be social with all members and non-members in the room. Please remember, your actions are watched by all the members and non-members and these actions speak for the league. Always try to close registration and start your tour on time. This is very important. There are tourneys running before and after yours so please run your tour on time to be fair to the other TDs. Also keep in mind that players may have things to do and running your tour on time helps them be able to register for other tours and go on with their day. It's very frustrating to be held up and left waiting for long periods of a time.

  2. We try our hardest to keep this a drama-free league that is friendly, with manners so by all means, be funny, be silly, but please keep it clean. This is your tourney, you run it and no one else. An HTD can help you and walk you through things with you. They may even IM you and say a few words of encouragement. Please don’t take this the wrong way, we are just trying to ensure that you are the best TD you can be, because your success is our success. *remember we were all new TDs once too*. Always remember they are just trying to help you and teach you everything that needs to be learned.

  3. There will be times when you come across a dispute while hosting regarding a tour, a member or a non-member or other leagues, please always be polite and most importantly stay calm. This is the best way to handle these types of disputes. If things escalate and you feel that you need help, please call an HTD or Admin. Please remember, once the HTD or Admins steps-in it is then out of your hands and becomes theirs, so please step back and let them handle it!

  4. If you happen to close a tourney and then realize you have marked the wrong person as the winner. DO NOT PANIC. STAY CALM. This can be fixed. Let the player know that you are contacting the Admins and they will fix the stats and that you will contact cases to have the bux corrected. You will then need to go to TD support on your TD site. This is where you will send cases a message to correct the buxs. You will need to know both members ladder name and how much bux they received in error and how much buxs they should have received. To figure out the buxs, there is a buxs calculator. Here you will need to know how much you charged for the tour, if the players were a free member or a paying premium member and which one (gold, platium, diamond) and how many jumpers were in the tour. Follow the steps and it will give you the correct amount of bux they should have received. This is what you will put in the email to cases.

  5. All games have a boot timer. If a player is MIA from a table game, please try to IM that person. Let them know they are on a timer, if you get no response start the timer (10 min). To use the boot timer, enter the name of the player and hit start. This will always tell you how much time they have left. When timer runs out you have the other player report winner//non-winner. If the player returns before the boot timer stops hit stop, if they are booted again use the remaining time and hit start again. Do not start the timer over for another 10 min. Remember do not wait on players, this is what the boot timer is for, you have more than 1 player in your tour and to be fair to all players we need to use the boot timer to ensure we are not holding up the tour.

  6. Leader board games (Lottso or DCR):

If a player goes MIA and does not make it back before Round 2 they will be DQ’d. If the game you are hosting is a 10 min round, such as Hogs, the player has until the end of Round 1 to return without being DQ'd for next round. If a problem occurs, you need to remember to keep it out of lobby. Take it to a table, IMs or PC. Leaving all disputes out of lobby and away from all members or non-members so no one else gets involved. If the problem has been taken to a table, please take a screen shot of the problem and send it an Admin. If the problem has been taken to an IM, please copy & paste the conversation or take a screen shot and send it to an Admin.

  7. Screenshots:

You will be trained on how to take screenshots. You must take screen shots of ALL disputes. NEVER go to an HTD/Admin and tell them what happen. To us that is hearsay. We need actual proof and we need to see the incident from start to finish. This helps us solve to any disputes more easily. **If you think it’s important for us to know something then it’s important to take a screenshot of it!!!** Please send all screen shots to lucky_mother by email to: babychaser70@hotmail.com.

  8. Macro's:

All TDs may use macro programs. This helps you enter the rules so you don’t have to type them each and every time you run a tourney. Please DO NOT abuse this - only run the rules once. No one wants to sit and watch tons of advertising or rules holding up the lobby chat. Make sure they are run slow enough that everyone can read them. Please ask your trainer about this.

  9. Swiss & D/E tourneys:

Once you have done your 10 S/E tourneys and have completed 20 tourneys you can receive training in Swiss and D/E tourneys. Please ask an HTD for training on these types of tourneys after you have reached your 20 or when you feel you’re ready to learn it. Please note that for now we do not host D/E tours.

  10. New members:

Helping new members is very important. Please take the time to answer their questions and help them get signed up. If this takes too long and they can’t get in the tour, simply explain to them that you have to start this tourney but you will be more than welcome to help them register for future tours in the league.

  11. Always check your email daily. It's a very important part of being a TD. Member updates are sent out periodically. Please keep your invite list up-to-date (an admin can help you with this – just IM one to ask). We have members joining and leaving all the time and we don’t want to send messages to someone who may have left the league. This is against cases rules. Also we don’t want to leave a new member without an invite for a tour they may want to register for. You may also have Admins or HTDs sending you important emails, so checking your email on a day-to-day basis is important. Please make sure we have your current email address. If you change it please let us know as it is your responsibility to provide us with current information. To update changes: go to my account on the main page. To update your TD account, you need to login to your TD menu and change your email there as well. Always email an Admin to let them know you have changed your email.

  12. Please remember you’re a member, as well being a TD, and this does not give you the right to tell another host what to do during their tourney. You have your own tours to run, let them run theirs. If a player ever comes to you and complains about another TD, please do not get involved send them to the higher command (HTD/Admin). The less involved in disputes the less drama there will be. Once a situation is resolved it is closed!

  13. If the tour before yours is running late and you need to start but some of your players are in the other tour and you have 4 or more in the room, you need to remove those players and start your tour. No players are allowed to participate in two tourneys at the same time. They need to register for the next tourney only after the first tour has ended.

  14. If you are hosting in a room and another league is also running a tour in that room: Please work with the other host to lessen any confusion for the players. A couple of solutions are: moving one tour to PC or hosts taking turns announcing pairs in lobby.

  15. Always have fun and remember no tours are always going to run perfectly. Don't get frustrated, this happens to all of us, just remain calm. Do your best to keep everything running smoothly. You can scream later lol :-)

  16. In addition, it should be mentioned that if any TD/HTD representing Lucky’s Haven ignores directions/warnings or oversteps the boundaries as set forth in the policies and/or rules of this ladder, they will be put on an "in training" status until they understand the policies. Consistency is very important to a ladder.
