LIKE’S LOONIES
MEMBERS INFORMATION

Welcome to the Like’s Loonies!!! We are so happy that you have joined us. We look forward to playing with you in tourneys and getting to know you. We have lots of different tourney games to enjoy and we are always looking to add more as we grow. This league is all about you, the players. If it wasn’t for the players there would be no league. You are all very important!! The biggest thing about Like’s Loonies is that we want to have fun. We do not allow drama during the tourneys. Winning is not what it is all about. What it is about is getting together with great people, laughing and having fun.

The following information will help you to understand our league better and how the tournaments work. Our league welcomes everyone and we work to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. You will notice that our staff uses player’s pogo names. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, we want everyone to know whom we are talking to in the course of a tournament. Second, we want everyone to feel like they belong and are welcome. If first names, or any other type of names are used it’s hard to keep track of who someone is talking to and makes some feel like they are not included. So please use pogo names while in a tournament. When you are looking at our league site you will see on the left hand side a link for new members to join, a link for the new members information. You will also see a chat box, picture slide show. And below that a list of our players birthdays and recent winners of some of our special tourneys. On the right hand side you will see our voting booth. We will use this to have players vote on different things. When it says open, click on it and see what there is to vote on. Below that you will see our staff listing. If you would like to send any of our staff an email, just click on their name. Below that is a link to email us your birthday. Below that is our regularly set special tourneys. If you scroll down farther on the page you will see a list of our rooms we play in and to the left of that you will see recent league news. Please explore and click on the tabs at the top of the page.

REGISTERING FOR A TOURNAMENT: Now that you have joined the league the next step is registering for a tournament. From our main league page you will click on the tournaments tab at the top of the page. You will see a list of the upcoming special tourneys. This is is updated approximately once a week. Below that you will find the calendar for the day. Then you will go to the time that you wish to play and click on the host’s name. Then click on “register”. Then put in your name and password and check the box that says you understand the rules and click register at the bottom of the box. If you have done this correctly, it will say that you have registered successfully and what your registration number is. You’re set and ready to play in a tournament.

Now you need to get to the room that the tournament is being held in. To do this, click on the word ‘main’ from the registration page. Look to the right of the registration link and you will see game and then under it game room name. This tells you step by step how to get to the tourney. You will find the game, the tab or type of game and then the room name. You will also see ‘Play Here!’. The staff tried to put the link for the backdoor to the tourney room. You can click on this link and it will take you right to the tourney room. Please be aware that sometimes these links may not work. Or may take you to a wrong room. Please do not rely just on these links to get to the room. You can also use the description of the room that will take you there step by step. Sometimes the tourney will require you to find the host on your friends list. If so, it will say that on the tourney page information as well.

BUX: When you register for a tournament you will be charged “bux” to play. You will receive some bux from registering. Once you have joined the league you will be gifted some bux from a staff member and receive an email when you are gifted them. We will always make sure that you have enough bux to play in the tournaments. You obtain more bux by winning a tournament or by winning at least one round in a swiss tournament. You can also win bux by playing chat games during a tournament. You can also increase your bux by becoming a premium member. There are three levels of premium memberships available, gold, platinum and diamond. The gold membership gives you 2 times the bux, the platinum give you 4 times the bux and the diamond gives you 6 times the bux. During a tournament when you see the host award more bux to someone who placed lower than you it will be because they are a premium member. You can find out more about the premium memberships by going to this link: http://www.igl.net/premium/. You can find out how many bux you have by logging in on our main page in the upper right hand corner. Once you do that you will see how many bux you have listed as well as any messages you may have. If you want to play in a tournament and do not have enough ladder bux, go to the room that the tournament is being held in and ask the host to help you. If you realize that you are short on bux and just need some to be able to play in a future tourneys, please email our Lunatic Misnister, Wikid on the staff listing and ask her for help. Wikid is our go to person for the players. She ministers to our players. She is our Lunatic Minister.

TYES OF TOURNAMENTS: We try to have different types of tourneys to give you a variety of ways to play. A couple of these tourneys we don’t do very often but will do more as the league grows. Here are the types that we play.

Single Elimination: In this tournament you will play until you lose against your opponant and there is a single winner for the tournament. If you lose a round once, you will be out of the tourmament.

Regular Swiss: In this tournament you will play in all the rounds that are necessary to determine one winner. The number of rounds will vary depending on how many players are in the tourney. But you play all of the rounds win or lose.

True Swiss: In this tournament there is a set number of rounds. Usually three. And you play all the rounds win or lose just like in the regular swiss. But, there may not be one winner in the tournament. In both swiss tourneys as long as you win at least one round you will receive bux.

2vs2: In this tournament you are randomly paired with another player in the tourney and both of your scores count for the round.

Double Elimination: In this tournament you have to lose two times to be out of the tourney. At the end of the tourney the player that has not lost any rounds and the player that has lost one round will play each other. In order to win, you have to be the last one standing to have won the most rounds. So if the player with two wins loses the first round, then each player has lost one round and there is a play off. If the player that has won both rounds win the first round, they win the tourney. If the player that has lost only one round beats the player that has not lost any twice in a row, they would win. It is basically a best two out of three rounds.

Rules are always given before the start of each tournament.

BYES: Tournaments are set up in brackets of 4, 8 and 16 players. If there are any other combination of players in the tournament then there are byes. Byes are assigned by Cases when there is not someone to play against that round. They are usually only in the first round, but can also be in other rounds as well. A bye means that you will automatically advance to the next round. You may choose to play or not play the game or the extra chat game if there is one for that round. Watch the chat and the host will let you know when you will be playing and against whom. Byes are determined by Cases after the host closes the tournament. The host has several ways to set up the tournament. It can be set up randomly, by registration number, by rating, and rank. The hosts will mix up the way that they set up their tournaments and not always do it the same way so that you are not always playing against the same person. After a tournament has been closed and started you can go to the Like’s Loonies site and go back to the same page that you registered for the tournament and click on standings and see the brackets for that tournament and how they are set up. It will be the same format as the host is using to conduct the tournament. This is very helpful to show you the format of a tournament.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS (TOC): This tournament is conducted once a month and if you win one tournament in the previous month you are eligible for the TOC. You will receive an email if you are invited to this tournament. To play you just go to the calendar and click on the hosts name. Instead of clicking on register you will click on “teams/check-in”. You do not need to register for this tournament because the host has already registered you when the tournament is set up. All you do is find your name in the drop down box and put in your password and you’re ready.

BIRTHDAYS AND PICTURES: If you would like to have your birthday added to our league page so we may recognize your birthday with a card please go to the main league page on the right hand side and click on the link that says ‘submit your birthday’ and we will get it added as soon as possible. We have a slide show on our main pain with pictures of our players. We would love to have you add yours and see who we talk to during the tourneys. To do that click on ‘sign this guestbook’. When the next page comes up please fill in your pogo name, where you live, your email address, any message you would like. Your email address does not show up on the slide. Upload your picture and then click add. You will not see your picture show up right away. An email will go to likeicare and she will approve your post before it will show up on the slide. If it is not there after a day or so please send her an email by clicking on her name under the staff listing and ask her if she got it.

We are always trying out new things and different ways to run the tourneys. We want all of you to not get bored and most of all to have fun!! If you have any suggestions, comments or concerns, please let like know or send an email to our Lunatic Minister. We always want you to feel like you can discuss anything that is on your mind. If you have any questions at all please ask any of our staff members and they will be glad to help you.
