League Rules for BGA

We are a Backgammon league, everyone who has joined was
looking for a game, but in the end have joined a Family of Friends.

Over the years and many changes in the Rules here
we have had to change some and make new ones.

Here are the Rules for playing at Addiction.

Your League and Pogo playing names
"Must Match" along with a valid E-Mail address.
Emails that appear to be Invalid or blocked
for League busness will be boxed 30 days then removed.

Members may use the "User Editor" for any changes
during your Membership including cancelation of the Newsletter.

No "Duplicate Accounts", they will be removed.
Further Duplicate Account violations by same member
will result in Banning member from League.

"Accounts" it is illegal for more than one person to use
or share the same account.  Please create separate
accounts for each individual playing.

"Free" Members "Inactive" for 90 days are removed from Ladder.
It is the Members responsibility to keep their Membership active.
There are No Exceptions.

Premium Members who are inactive are de-ranked until
they become active again.  Or until the Premium Membership expires.

"Sportmanship" at all times..
Treat your Fellow Members with respect!
Conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants,
especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing.
Disrespect or harrassment of a Member or Host results in boxing.
Repeat Offenders will be Banned from the league.

The Host are here to guide you through each event.
Members should always follow the direction of the Host.
Anyone who refuses to follow the direction of the Host will
be Boxxed or Banned dependant on the situation.
We have a ZERO Tolerance for those who verbally abuse any Host.

The "Ranking System" when you first join you are in the
"Unranked" category of the Ladder. You become "Ranked"
after winning your first Ladder match.  When you defeat a higher
ranked player you move up half the distance between their
rank and your own. Your rank on the Ladder does not go down
if you lose a match, unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY
below you. Only when other players beat people above you
and jump over you in rank you will slide down.

Our "Lobby Behavior" reflects the League and it's Members.
Therefore we should set higher standards for our behavior.
League chatters who get carried away may be warned or boxed.
Foul Language is a direct violation, and will not be tolerated.
Some Non-Members chat can get offensive DO NOT remark
SILENTLY use the REPORT and MUTE Buttons.

"Ladders" 3pt Matches played between 2 Members,
You may decide to play one of the Games from "Game Variations"
provided it is agreed upon by both members, and is played for 3 pts.
ALL LADDERS ARE TO BE PLAYED IN LEAGUE ROOM
And REPORTED IMMEDIATELY to the Leagues Ladder.
This allows equal playing fields for the Ladder, and moving up.

Members may Ladder the same person "3 times daily".
You can play many different Members Daily.
However playing members of your own Household are frowned upon.
Please report all Ladders promptly.
Staff will handle all "Unreported Matches".

The "Top Five" on the Ladder must compete in 2 scheduled
Tournaments daily or be dropped 10 rungs.
This is besides Ladder Matches.

The "Top Ten" everyone wants a shot at #1;
consequently there should be a lot of activity and
movement in the top ranks of the Ladder.
#1 should play #2 as often as possible.
Remember rank has priority when it comes to challenges.
Top Ten must play at least once everyday.
If they don't they are automatically dropped five rungs
and their inactivity counter is reset.
There are no exceptions to this rule.

"Ladder Manipulation" we can easily see that if the top
ranks are only playing Lower ranked Members, and we will derank
those involved..    If they are only playing certain players..
that is ladder manipulation, they KNOW what they are doing!
Penalty of with this type of activity, deranked 50 rungs.

"Lapping the Pack" assists with keeping the Ladder in motion,
we have put into play a 3 day or 72 hr. Lap for the #1 spot.
After defending the spot for 72 hours
the #1 is lapped to the bottom of the barrel.
A list of monthly "Laps" can be found under the "Community Tab".
"Top Dog" will be noted on next years Lap the Pack page.
Members may request anytime to take a drop in rungs,
however this is not a Lap.

"Formal Challenges" is restricted to only the Top Ten
of the Ladder.   However "ALL" other venues of
seeking a Match "MUST" be used before issuing Challenge.

First Come, First Served for accepting challenges
applies when you have multiple challenges at the same time.
There is a 24 hour time line to complete any Formal Challenge.
"There is a Penalty" for using the Formal Challenge inappropriately
and will be enforced.  The Offending member will lose rungs.

"Rank Hounding" Players in the Top Ten are expected
to be as active after they reach the top ranks as before.
In other words, if you are play 20 games a day
to make it to the Top Ten and then only play
once in the 72 hrs. to hold rank you may be penalized.

Our "Tournament Rules" are used by each and every Host.
