"Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times"
Romans 3: 13
"Lord I believe; help my unbelief!"
Mark 9: 24

Dear Lord, thank You for giving us a Savior, Your Son Jesus Christ.
Help us to focus on all that Your gift offers us
instead of what we don’t have that we want.
Create in us a thankful heart for forgiveness of our sins,
and heaven as our eternal home with Christ,
and for our new life in Christ.
Fill us anew with Your love, joy, and peace,
and help us to give it as a gift to others. In Jesus’ Name...Amen

One of the most important and vital prayers for us
~The Lord's Prayer~
given to us by God Himself
The prayer includes all the supplications, and requests to our God,
to give us that new life

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day, our daily bread
And forgive us our tresspasses
As we forgive those who tresspass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the Kingdon
And the power, and the Glory
Forever and ever
Amen

"Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God"
Philippians4:6

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name"
Pdsalm 100:4
From the Book of Common Prayer, 1979

~The Covenant Prayer~
I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thy wilt;
put me to doing, put me to suffering;
let me be employed for thee, or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee, or brought low for thee;
let me be full, let me be empty;
let me have all things, let me have nothing;
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen

"Likewise the spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do
not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes
with sighs too deep for words"
Romans 8:26

DADDY'S EMPTY CHAIR
A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father.
When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed, with his head propped up on two pillows.
An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me, he said. 'No, who are you?" said the father. The minister told him his name, and then remarked, "I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up."
"Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?" Puzzled, the minister shut the door. "I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man. "But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head."
I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, "until one day four years ago. My best friend said to me, "Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest. Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith, see Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, 'I will be with you always' ".
"Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now." "So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm."
The minister was deeply moved by the story, and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church.
Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. "Did he die in peace?" the minister asked. Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?" The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, "I wish we could all go like that."

A prayer..

Hello God, I called tonight to talk a little while.
I need a friend who'll listen to my anxiety and trial.
You see, I can't quite make it through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me, so I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep my family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence for whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things I can't change in any way.
I thank you God for being home and listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice when I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one that answers every time.
I never get a busy signal, never had to pay a dime.
So thank you, God, for listening to my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You too, and I'll call again tomorrow!
Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you,
so guide our minds, so fill our immaginations,
so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours,
utterly dedicated unto you; and then use us,
we pray you, as you will,
and always to your glory and
the welfare of your people;
through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

1979 Book of Common Prayer
Holy God:
Thy light in our eyes;
Thy word in our ears;
Thy love in our hearts;
Thy world in our hands. Amen

...prayer for illumination
..prayer for hope
Dear God,
on those days
when hope escapes me,
when all I am is weary,
when darkness is all I see,
let Your strength be my beacon
like a lighthouse
on a rock,
shining bright enough
to dispel the clouds
of despair
and bring me new vision.
Amen
