Child 1

Child 2
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Psalm 127: 3-5

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;
your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.

Psalm 128: 3

Jesus, with attitudes that were very much influenced by the attitudes of
His parents, was a lover of children. Jesus took delight during His ministry to
welcome them whenever they clustered around Him. Jesus was
very much aware with acute understanding of their need for being accepted
warmly, and to have adult help.

In those multitudes that followed Jesus were children hungry, or at
least malnourished, and some were sick with all-to-common ailments,
to which our modern medicines are now available to alleviate distress.
Some were deformed and blind, and some were in the grip of demonic powers.
( Mark 9: 17-18 )

Children clustered around Jesus, longing to be picked up, and held in
His welcoming arms, where they would continue to feel His love for them.
While embracing them. Jesus prayed God's blessing on the young lives.
He declared that children were to be welcomed in His name. He declared
that anyone who causes a child to go astray would suffer severe punishment.
( Mark 9:35-37,42 )

Child 3

He sat down...Then He took a little child and put it among them;
and taking it in His arms, He said to them, "Whoever welcomes one such
child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes
not me but the one who sent me.

Mark 9: 35-37

Child 4

Children are to be objects of angelic care, not to be disdained or
destroyed at adult discretion.

Then little children were being brought to Him in order that He
might lay hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to
those who brought them; but Jesus said, "Let the little children
come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom
of heaven belongs. And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
**Jesus blesses the children**
Matthew 19: 13-15

At that time the disciples asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom
of heaven?" He called a child whom he put among them, and said,
"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children,
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble
like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever
welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Matthew 18: 1-6
