How do I join WEG?

First, you may want to open a new window so you can refer back to this window during the process of signing up.
You can open a new browser window by pushing CTRL + N (simultaneously) on your keyboard
OR by going to the File menu at the top of your browser and choosing "New Window".

Click the FREE Sign-Up button located at top right of the main page, OR click the one shown to the right.
STEP 1 OF 4 ~ User Name & Password After you have clicked on FREE SIGNUP, a box like the one to the right will appear. Type in... ~Your EXACT pogo name under user name. ~Password (used to jump tourneys & log into main pg) ~Retype your password (helps make sure no errors) ~Your birthday (to verify you are over 13 yrs of age) ~Your email address (you will receive activation) ~Retype email address (helps make sure no errors) IMPORTANT: Make sure you enter a valid email as thats where you will receive your activation link to complete registration and then future mailings of upcoming events.
STEP 1 OF 4 ~ continued (LadderBux Bonus) Next on same page you'll see a box like one at right. Fill in and check the boxes to get ladderbux. IMPORTANT: You must have ladderbux to participate in most tournaments, so be sure to check at least some of the boxes.
STEP 1 OF 4 ~ continued (Proceed) Bottom of same page, a box like the one to the right. Click PROCEED to continue on.
STEP 2 OF 4 ~ Premium Membership Once again, you should see a box like this to right. Check to get info to upgrade to gold, platinum or diamond (not required) OR click CONTINUE AS FREE MEMBER.
STEP 3 OF 4 ~ Special Offers This page totally optional.. not related to the league dont forget to click PROCEED
STEP 4 OF 4 ~ Registration Successful ALL needed info is in this email. If you dont get email please contact one of the TDs or the ADMIN IMPORTANT: You must activate your account to play, so please don't skip this step.

Where do I play?

We play all of our Tournaments and ladder matches in the Purple Haze under purple tab of Pogo gammon.

-From our main page www.myleague.com/gammon you can click the GO PLAY NOW button located at top right to take you directly to TheHaze.

-Each tourney page The WEG TEAM has created also has a quick link to bring you to TheHaze.

If entering room through POGO.com you can get to our room by finding backgammon under list of board games,
next click on Expert tab then Purple Haze.

How do I register for a tournament?
There are MANY ways to register for a tourney.. try different ways to find out which is best for you.

Scroll down under the ChatBox and you will see Tournament Events scheduled for the day,
If you are logged onto the main page.. find tourney you would like to particpate in and click "Register" at end of line.
"Register" will change to "Registered" to show you have joined the tournament successfully.
Simple as that.. you are IN.. See ya in The Haze.. GL at the tables.
**Click on the hosts name to see pairings, standings and rules.

If NOT logged onto main page.. click on the name of the tourney...

OR click on the Tournaments tab to go to the calendar page.
on this page you can also view our Specials.

OR click on the Tournaments Calendar tab above the Chatbox to go to the old calendar page.

OR use the old 'jump here' function.

OR receive link from TD through messenger..

Once you have found the tourney that you would like to play in, CLICK ON IT, and follow the steps to REGISTER for that tourney. Enter your ladder name, password, and make sure that you have clicked the 'read rules' box. Click Register. And you're in !!

IMPORTANT: Tournament Director(TD) will send out a direct link to the next tourney starting approx. 30 minutes prior to tourney for all members on their messenger list.
So make sure TDs have your current messenger added to enjoy the ease of this.

What types of tournaments do we play?

Single Elimination
This is the most common tourneys set. Every player is matched up with an opponent. After 1 loss, a player is eliminated from the tourney.

Double Elimination
In this type of tournament, you will lose 2 matches before you are eliminated. After you lose your first match, you move into the lower bracket. You continue playing matches in the lower bracket until you get your second loss, and are then eliminated. If you win all your games in the lower bracket, you will then play the winner of the top (winner's) bracket.

Swiss
This tourney allows ALL registered players to play in EVERY round of the tournament.

In the Regular Swiss, play is continued until only one player remains undefeated.
In the True Swiss, play is continued for a predetermined number of rounds. At the end of all of the rounds, the winner will be the player(s) with the most wins.

Tourney Etiquette

We have some tourney etiquette rules in WEG. Mainly being common sense and common courtesy.

The only person that uses caps during a tourney is the Host that is currently hosting that tourney.
(others using caps can confuse the members.)

Hello and gl isnt painful.. and sets the mood of the match.

Don't be rude to your opponent or others at table or in lobby. Complaining about the dice doesnt change a thing.. We have ALL been on both sides of the dice. All ratings and ages are welcome so at times you will have an opponent that plays differenty from you, please accept this as part of playing in a league.
Please don't leave the table because you are losing.. it is rude and unsportsmanlike to do so.

Rudeness to the hosts is not allowed. The hosts are there so that you can play and give of their time totally on a volunteer basis. Saying.. Thank you for hosting shows the TD you do appreciate their efforts put forth so that we can all have fun.

How do I set a table?

Click on PLAY at the table you wish to create a table. Once you click on PLAY, a box will pop up and this is where you will select the table preferences. (see illustration below.)

IMPORTANT:

The Tournament Director(TD) will announce pairings and settings each round in lobby chat.
First player named sets table. (unless TD says differently in pairings)

What is a ladder match?

A ladder match is a game played to compete for ladder spots. So, whatever your ladder rank, if you win the game against a higher ranked player, you will go up half way between your rank and your opponents.

The LOSER of the match MUST report a loss. This can be done several ways...
Click on "Standings" tab at top of main page then 'Report Loss' last link on second row.
OR by clicking on "Report Loss" link in top table of main page.

To play a ladder match just go to the Purple Haze room and ask for one. ANY format is acceptable in a ladder, but a different format other than regular is to be agreed upon between you and your opponent, prior to starting the match.

You may ladder with the same player up to 5 times per day. The LOSER of the match reports their loss to the ladder before the start of the next game.

What are ladderbux?

Ladderbux are play money used to enter tourneys (when you see 'entry fee $50', this means 50 ladderbux)... then its redistributed as prizes for that tourney.

How do I get ladderbux?

When you registered for this league, you were given ladderbux options (when filling out the registration page). For every question answered you received an amount of ladderbux.

Are there any other ways to get ladderbux?

You will receive ladderbux when you win or place in tourneys.

If you run out of ladderbux, please don't hesitate to contact any of our tourney directors OR click on "giving hands" link above to send email and you will be set up with a bux fairy to pad your account with enough bux to get you back in the games.
