WELCOME TO THE FIRST STEP
IN JOINING THE LEAGUE. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE RULES, THEY ARE HERE TO
MAKE YOUR STAY HERE SAFE AND FUN.
AMAZING_MIDS LEAGUE RULES
So you've
signed up in the league what’s next you ask? Here are the ins and outs of our
little league called Amazing_mids. First thing I want you to do is BOOK MARK THE LEAGUE PAGE. I would strongly
encourage you to click around on the league page and explore all it has to
offer.
LEAGUE PURPOSE
Our main
goal here at Amazing_mids is to have FUN! Yes, it is a league and
therefore competition is a fact of league life. We strive to be fair and
friendly to ALL.
MULTIPLE ID's
Each player
at Amazing_mids is only allowed to have ONE ID registered with the league and this ID MUST EXACTLY MATCH your Yahoo
ID. If you are found to have more than one ID registered in this league
the consequences will be no less than the extra ID being booted from the
league. The maximum penalty would be that ALL
of your ID's would be booted. Each case will be reviewed and dealt with on
its own merits.
SAME HOUSEHOLD PLAYERS
We do allow
people living in the same household to play in the league and also to play each
other. However, you must notify the Administration of this situation. Also, if
there is any suspicious behavior detected it will be examined and dealt with as
needed.
BACKDOOR ENTRANCE
This is the
best way to get into the room, the PLAY NOW button will take you directly to Summit.
PLAYING GAMES
Lets start
with the very beginning. How do you play games? Ask for a match, usually a
series of 3 games. One player plays while their opponent watches. (To watch
double click on the opponents name to the right, and press the watch button.)
After agreeing what kind of game they will be playing, the players watch each
other play and keep track of each other’s scores. The players announce their
scores in chat after each game and their opponent acknowledges after each
posting...(see below). At the end of each match, players add up their scores,
and the highest total wins. If no one is free to play at that moment then just
wait patiently for someone to ask for a game. People usually do this by
asking... GAME ANYONE? That is your cue to say I WILL. If someone asks you to "CALL IT" this means they are letting you decide
how many games to play and who starts first. Like this "3me" or "3you".
There are various different ways to type it so if you don't understand what’s
going on just ask. People are usually very willing to help out with
explanations. Be aware that you can only play the same person 10 matches per
day and that day is based on the Pacific Time Zone. Also, note that the
10 matches per day rule does not apply to tournament play.
ACKNOWLEDGING SCORES
When playing
a game with someone we expect everyone to acknowledge his or her opponents
score in the room. It is always nice to acknowledge your opponents score so
they know you got it and should be done each time your opponent posts his/her
score in chat. This is done by saying: gj (good job) nj (nice job) vnj (very
nice job) nt (nice try) gg (good game)etc.....
REPORTING
Now the match
is over and someone needs to report. The loser of the match is the only one
that reports. To report all you have to do is go back to the league page
(www.myleague.com/amazing_mids{hopefully is now book marked for easy access})
and click on the link that says "Report Loss". Then just enter your
username and password. You will be asked to enter the winners’ username.
It is not mandatory that you enter any kind of comment but you can if you wish.
Once you have entered their name exactly as their screen name...click on submit
and you are done!! It is very important to report losses right
after the match is finished. If there is a problem please contact an
Administrator, Head TD, or TD to help you out.
REMATCHES
You can play
the same person 10x per day. Asking someone for a rematch is no biggie.
However, if there are others in the room looking for games and not getting to
play it is rude to sit there and play a certain person 10 games straight. Just
use common sense and courtesy and keep an eye out for what is going on in the
room.
UNFINISHED MATCHES
There should
be no such thing as an unfinished match. ALL matches underway before a
tournament begins should be finished and reported before the tournament starts
if either of the players in that match is playing in the tournament. If a
player is unable to finish a match that they have committed to then that player
should be the one to forfeit and report the match immediately. Also, if a
player is booted or has to go on brb during a regular league match the player
waiting is only obligated to wait 10 min (just like a tourney). After that 10
min period they are considered the winner and the booted player needs to report
the loss ASAP. After the 10 min period the player waiting is free to move on to
play in another league match. Any unresolved issues regarding unreported
matches should be brought to an administrator’s attention right away.
TOURNAMENTS
The
"to-do" with Tournaments. We love to do tournaments here at Amazing_mids
so here is how to join them and play in them! The tournament calendar is right
up there on the front of the league page (that is book marked by now....right?).
Scroll down and find the tournament that you want to play in and then click on
the underlined link. Once you have the main tournament page pulled up,
click on the registration link. ALL tournaments are different so be sure to
read the rules page (there will be a link for this also) and see what special
rules the TD has posted concerning his/her tournament. In our tournaments the TD is ALWAYS the ONLY one who does the reporting, so
all you have to do is worry about playing and having fun!
Once the
tourney starts, the TD will announce "Round 1" in chat.
Then will
announce “pairings” in chat.
Players
named first always go first.
It is
VERY important for you to watch the chat in the lobby, especially during
weakest links and heart racers.
If you
are missing when a tourney starts you will placed on a 10 minute timer, if you
are booted for any reason during a tourney you will also be placed on the
timer. Time spent on “timer” adds up during a tourney, in other words you will
NOT get a fresh 10 minutes each time you reappear.
Once
you determine who your opponent is, play your match according to the particular
tourney rules. If you lose the match then you need to announce winners name in
chat. (ie – RANDY WINS). Also thank your opponent for the match, after the
tournament it’s important to also thank the TD for the tournament. IF there are
any questions the best way to resolve them is to message the TD, if you are
unable to do this please ask your question politely in the lobby. Be patient as
often the TD is busy so it might take a moment for a response.
And that’s
all there is to it.
CHEATING
Cheating in
any form or fashion is NOT TOLERATED. ANYONE caught doing so will be dealt with
accordingly. Punishment will depend on the situation and what has happened, and
could result in permanent dismissal from the league. Each situation will be
dealt with according to its own merits and will be discussed in full by all the
Administration staff. Whether you are in a league game or a tournament you are
expected to play your cards as you normally would no matter what the twist. NO card manipulation will be tolerated!
RANK HOUNDING
What is it
and what it is not! What it IS.... when you ONLY play people above you in order
to move up the ladder. What it is NOT... asking a player ahead of you in rank
directly for a game is NOT considered rank hounding. That IS the only way you
will move UP the ladder. As long as you also play those below you and don't
pass up games while waiting for a certain player to be free because they are
ahead of you in rank, you will not be considered a rank hound. We love to see friendly competition and want
EVERYONE to have a shot at being number one. So, don't be afraid to ask someone
directly for a game. As long as you don't HOUND someone continually for a game
everything should be just fine. If someone is felt to be rank
hounding by either harassing certain players for games or by ignoring requests
for games, they will be talked to and each situation will be dealt with
individually.
